Obvious pickup is obvious (assuming he didn't do anything stupid to have this happen)
Would immediately be team's 2nd best RHD and then we can waive McQuaid.
Positive rel and relT metrics across the board last two years. Good rate metrics on offense. I don't care that he's out of shape. Bring him to camp, get him in shape, and get that 4th rounder for McQuaid.

If this material breach of contract is just fluff, it wouldn't hurt to add him as insurance. I’m gonna guess Chicago jumps on him if they can since they always need dmen.

When you said it, it sounded familiar, so I was surprised myself when I went to check. I know there was something with another d-man where we were looking at this and being like: 'oh, this dude was carried'. Maybe it was Claesson and EK?

Where is the lie though? I don't have access to my projection data at the moment, but their D corps are quite underwhelming - especcially compared to their F and G.

Dubas is an arrogant prick who has proven very little for the way behaves. This is the same guy who said “we can, and we will” when asked if Toronto could keep Nylander+Matthews+Mariner+Tavares. Meanwhile, in real life, training camp just started for Toronto and Nylander isn’t there because of contract issues.
That person was absolutely right, too; the Leafs defense is, without question, their weakest point. It might not be a bad defense, but is nowhere up to par with their offense or goaltending. But instead of acknowledging that his team has a flaw, or discussing why he feels that isn’t a flaw or a weakness, Dubas, an NHL professional mind you, decides to attack a college student and tell them to change their major.

I guess it depends on the story and what the person said about their D. But it's not like Dubas hasn't done anything. His first off-season as Leafs GM has been pretty great, assuming Nylander gets done, and, I mean, he's got a Calder Cup... and he's 33 years old, so it's only beginning.

Yeah i dno about Dotchin, i agree that terminating the contract is harsh if he's "just" out of shape, seems likely there's more to the story. But hard to speculate on it without any more information too. If he didn't do something truly stupid then i'm all for signing him up, get him into shape and help our D.
