Our long-term center-depthThe best part is they can keep both Hayes and Zibanejad and it won’t be an issue long term
But *murmurs* the front office knows that they’re doing guys we just have to trust them
Once again I... errr, I mean RB is right in his analysisAt the minimum, this should've taken us through the Hank years. It's not this impossibility to maintain a competitive team and plan for the future simultaneously. anyone who tells you otherwise is a liar.

That's just to easy man. We have to go through the rebuild in the proper fashion. Can't wait for Hayes to get the ice time he's deserved, and score 55+ points with another team, while he had to be a f***ing "matchup" center for Vigneault when that never should have been the case. The best part is they can keep both Hayes and Zibanejad and it won’t be an issue long term

It's so frustrating. It didn't even have to come to this. What I would have given to see what this team could have done with a different coaching staff, and a different philosophy before going apeshit and rebuilding. Can't wait for the: 'HOW COULD WE KNOW, HE NEVER DID IT HERE!?!?' takes.
WE KNOW NOW! WE KNOW!
Ride Mika and Hayes as your 1-2 punch. Give Chytil/Lias/Howden easy 3C usage. Namestnikov goes to LW unless the kids don't make it.

Unfortunately I don’t think the two things line up. What I want and what they’ll get will vary greatlyNow that it seems Hayes is gone by the deadline, who would you guys like to see, or at least, what do you think would be an optimal return
Tend to agree. We probably won't get back more than what Stastny got from Winnipeg. A late first+ and OK prospect. Gorton screwed up big league.Unfortunately I don’t think the two things line up. What I want and what they’ll get will vary greatly
Ultimately it will be a late 1st + B/C prospect and a low level roster player for salary reasons
He can’t bring back more than O’Reilly, I would assume
Carolina, Colorado are probably the two most likely. Winnipeg has a need at C losing Stasny but Hayes won’t sign there long term, and I think Chevy will be hesitant to trade big assests for a rental and get burned again
Posted it in the spec thread using Colorado as a template. We won't get a kid like Bowers, Jost, Makar, Timmins, or Kaut, but I do think something around Shyvrov, Kamenev, or Meloche could be realistic. Maybe add a pick and other filler to balance it out.Now that it seems Hayes is gone by the deadline, who would you guys like to see, or at least, what do you think would be an optimal return
I'll be honest, I don't know much about the last three guys you mentioned. If that's the case, that is pretty dissapointing though.Posted it in the spec thread using Colorado as a template. We're really screwing ourselves with Hayes only having the value of a rental.
All three were highly touted prospects when drafted, so I chose to focus on them rather than expecting to get back one of the Avs top guys. Maybe they can snag Bowers out of the deal, but I doubt it since he was the key piece coming back from Ottawa in the Duchene deal.I'll be honest, I don't know much about the last three guys you mentioned. At this moment, if Chytil and Andersson can produce somewhat well, and not be terrible in possession metrics, I don't think we are even close to sucking. Now if they move Hayes, Andersson and/or Chytil aren't ready, then sure they probably will struggle.I like Spooner. He just needs to keep putting up a good enough p60 to negate his bad shot attempt metrics. Ideally, you find yourself a man that can do both, but, here we are.
OT: I mean, is the roster as currently constructed not exactly what we've been trying to avoid forever? Not good enough to compete. Not bad enough to suck.
It's a long off-season, for sure... but... I don't know.
We decided Hayes was more useful on the power kill.If Hayes got PP time, the debate this entire summer would've been: "Who do we keep, Hayes or Zibanejad"?
6 PP goals in 83 minutes last season. Vesey has 6 in 238 across the last two seasons. Bless up, AV. Hayes had a higher G/60 on the PP last year than Ovechkin (4.33 vs 3.01).

So you're saying Kovalev is a hall of famer? If Hayes got PP time, the debate this entire summer would've been: "Who do we keep, Hayes or Zibanejad"?
