Actually... maybe Dotchin is available? That'd be a good get, I think. Someone remind me to run the tool on him when I get home. On further analysis, he may be a product of Hedman.

Tanev and Dougie actually are elite.

Tanev would cost a haul. Dougie could be had imo. Bit of Cody Franson syndrome. 6'5" and not a convicted killer, so he's soff.
 
Find me a way to get Dougie Hamilton please and thank you.

Flames desperate for picks and forwards. I feel like something could get done, and it's worth it to pay for him.

I'd do 29OA, Zucc/Namestnikov/Spooner, and forward prospect who obviously isn't Chytil or Andersson as a start.
 
Yeah Dougie would be a great get, but I really don't see this team coughing up the assets for him considering we are "rebuilding" for whatever stupid f***ing reason we're doing that.

Gotta see if we can isolte players similar to Dougie who cost way less. It's MONEYPUCK time.

Dougie's 6th most similar player? Mother-effin-Franson. (EK65, Scott Mayfiled (uh oh), Pietrangelo, Gudas, Byfuglien)

Will not surprise me whatsoever. My nightmare is that we end this 'rebuild' and our top pair is Skjei-Pionk. I mean, if they both develop to that level? Groovy. If we're playing them there because that's where we're at? Then... well... waste of three years or however long this is going to take. Always afraid of not being on topic in this thread anymore so I'll say that Pionk needs to get his head out of his ass and stop murdering shot attempt totals when he's on the ice because boy did he do that last year.

Who knows. Maybe with Quinn/new defensive scheme, things will be better.
 
I honestly don't know how Pionk could be much worse lol. I actually like his skillset, hopefully he makes better decisions with the puck though, that was his biggest area of weakness when he got the callup. Most notably in the defensive zone, a lot of just throwing the puck off the boards hoping to just get the puck out of the zone instead of making a play.
 
What do you guys think of Brendan Smith? His possession numbers actually looked fine last season.

I’d rather keep him at LD and let him bounce back that way, but then again, I wouldn’t be shocked if we buy him out in an hour

Quinn said he has known Smith for a while, I assume they're going to give Smith the chance to get his shit together

I want to see someone like Hajek or Bigras make this team out of camp so they're forced to do something with Staal. Although our luck they'll do something with Smith instead

A lot of it is system driven and requires forwards to be doing their part on the backcheck, etc. I agree that I’d rather be deadlier up front

Possible? Yes. Extremely rare? Hell yes. Ideal way of building a team? Surely not.

Give me Keith/Doughty playing 1000 minutes a game in the playoffs any day over an elite forward.
