I honestly wouldn't consider this at all, even if Byram were to re-sign with us long term.

Interesting to chew on though.
Whatever is being chewed on, it's a choking hazard. Maybe that executive who made the comment just wants to see Jarmo get fired?

Funny but I wouldn't do that if I was Buffalo. Glad they include a couple of oars or a life vest in that 2nd rounder and a guy who has run out of runway like Lambert.

if they are actually entertaining moving Power, this is certainly interesting at least.

IMO, the only top 4 guy we currently have that should even be a part of any trade discussion is Byram -- and only if he's said to Jarmo that he's not re-signing with us

Otherwise, let's keep the top 4 exactly as is.

You don't think trading a top four D for Owen Tippett is our Matthew Tkachuk to Florida trade?

i would ONLY trade Byram if he refuses to extend this summer, and in that case I would prefer that they traded Byram for an elite forward OR one with truly elite top end potential. Tippett, Eklund, Kyrou dont quite meet that imo. Players like Robertson, Dorofeyev, Connor, Forsberg, Nylander, Michkov, Lafreniere, Byfield, Fantilli would have me interested.

Think a Helle trade would look more like 27th pick + UPL + Krebs than any of our top 4 D being involved.

All these Helle proposals are huge overpays. They're gonna get much less than Jets fans think they'll get.

Trading Power for anything less than a sure fire 1C at this point in his career would not be ideal. I don't think Id put him up for a Thomas- level 1C, either. We'd fill a massive hole only to create another one.

There's other, smaller moves, that can improve this roster. No need to move on from Power in a massive trade. Add a few savvy guys to the roster and trim some of the fat. Leave core guys alone unless someone is dumb enough to severely overpay.

IMO, Winnipeg only moves Helle if they are going full rebuild. In that case, Power might fit, just because he is young and would be in his prime by the time their rebuild is ready to go, if things go well.

Or if Helle wants out. If that's the case they're not getting some great return back. He's a 33 year old with a NMC.

Power is way more than they'd ever get. It would look similar to the Ullmark return, which was 1st + Korpisalo + Kastelic

There are people on this board who will literally never get over Power being selected over Matty B. and will never stop wanting to run him out of town as an act of vengeance.

That's garbage..how about UPL, Buffalo 2nd in 27 and Osbourn for Helly

There’s the story about Hardy’s discontinuing their third pound burger because people thought it was smaller than the McDonalds quarter pounder.

I’m not sure if that’s true but I get it.

Before anyone else puts a comment down about what I wrote about Thompson and Samuelsson for Tkachuk, please re-read what it wrote.

I never proposed that trade. I used it as the comparable to the Huberdeau trade.
Brady is not Matthew and is being significantly overrated because of his last name. Don't get me wrong: he's quite good but is not a franchise altering talent worth making a nutty trade for.
Except that I’m not advocating for that trade……

Power is a very good number three/good two with the potential to be more. I don’t see how that equates to a first line center value.

Then them people need to get their head out of their ass and start watching Power now instead of last few years.Lst year halfway thru the year he took his game to another level defensively adding to his already impressive transitional game. This year I predict he will up his offence and be the total package I was like many frustrated with his lack of aggressiveness but he upped that big time as well.He will never crush people like Sammy but he started effectively rubbing people out and that's all we can ask.I am a fan lol

A trade for Thomas would probably include Power + McLeod/Quinn + 1st and I am not sure that gets it done.

You don't give up something like that for 33 year old goalies.

I got no problem trading for him...but lets be reasonable.

My rub with him, I don't particularly like him, is the brain dead plays he makes in his own zone. There are usually 2 or 3 plays a game where I am wondering why he is where he is or why he left his man uncovered. If he can clean that up, he has potential to be a top pairing guy and he is more than welcome to stay. If he can't clean that up he is a top 4 dman all day.

Absolutely, which is why moving him doesnt make much sense to me. I'd assume Power + another valuable asset could get the Blues interested in moving Thomas. If that's the case- I'd rather keep Power and explore cheaper options that won't cost us core assets + to aquire.

On a separate note, any chance the Pens are interested in moving Rust? They have to start the rebuild one of these years, right? I wonder what the asking price would be? He could be a nice addition to the top-6 if Tuch leaves. 2 more years left on his contract @ around 5.5M iirc. He'd be 36 when that deal ends.

Not sure about Rust. I'm a bigger fan of Rackell and yet for this season I'm less a fan of both now. Rust at least PKs.

You can say that about any of our defence the way they are deployed especially our captain. I definitely am not getting rid of any of the 4 unless we are forced with Byram of course

i understand krebs and ostlund may not have experience, but theoretically, they have the skills to do it. we are going to need to trust the young guys to make some steps in development. pairing them with mcleod and beck should help that learning curve. and we dont really have a whole lot of options. greenway was pretty brutal at 5on5 and i cant see them keeping him. I think tuch will be chasing the bag and will leave. and i wouldnt really want to have him at 9mil+ cap hit for 8 years anyway. i guess they could try carrick on the pk also?
Add Carrick and Benson to the mix
