We would have to take some cap back, like GreenwayThe pieces all have to fit together. The ask on the trade board from Jets fans started with UPL, Helenius, and pick 20. How does that trade help Buffalo to re-sign Tuch?
Hellebuyck makes $8.5M. If I go on puckpedia and just make the Hellebuyck trade, that puts Tuch's new contract in almost the impossible task list. At least not without disassembling half the Sabres roster.
That's why Sabres fans are countering with Norris. The money makes sense and it allows the team to make other moves, possibly re-sign Tuch, and not detonate a grenade in the middle of the roster. That probably doesn't work for Jets fans either. So be it.
Buffalo is way better off staying the course and adding a goalie later in the process. The Sabres also get $4.5M back next season from Skinner's buyout.
Honest question: Are the Jets in a win today situation?Doesn't help us today, Buffalo has a 20ao doesnt guarantee anything. They seem to be rising team so the next first probably isnt any better.
What about Ostlund?
FWIW, Weekes mentioned we’re interested in Bob.
I think those of you who want us to keep the status quo at goaltender might need to adjust your expectations for this offseason. (Not a commentary on whether that’s right or wrong, just that it seems Jarmo wants to improve there).
The Sabres don't need a goaltender right now, I don't even know where all this hype came from. We won the division with a combo of UPL and Lyon. We have a bigger problem at forward. As you have mentioned we are getting close to the cap so we need players like Helenius, Ostlund and Kulich to play on ELC's.What about Ostlund?
Jets fans, sure. We dont see this team as contenders even though we were the best team a year ago. Management like most in the league are in win now, think a small move can put us back on top.Honest question: Are the Jets in a win today situation?
With expansion coming soon, a consideration for Jarmo is to figure out who he can protect when it comes. Can he protect all the young guys that we (fans) don't want to trade away now?

Maybe they pivot to Bob if Chevy's price is too high or he is insisting in Helenius. But if they won't pay Tuch, I can't see them paying Bob eitherFWIW, Weekes mentioned we’re interested in Bob.

If you get him at 2 years at 8AAV and trade UPL in a package for something it's only a 3.2 million difference and we give up absolutely no futures.I don't want Helly either, but Bob would be disastrous.
38 years old before the season starts, expecting big $ and term as well, coming off his statistically worst season. Hard pass.
A cap dump (Greenway) would have to come back. So you would make cap space while upgrading in net. Every management feels like the can get closer or possibly win. Upgrading in arguably the most important spot probably has management feeling they could contend. The Sabres don't need a goaltender right now, I don't even know where all this hype came from. It's insane to me that any of our future would be traded for a 33 year old goalie for Chevy's price over what are actual needs are right now.
How is adding 8.5 million to our situation helpful in a position that's not needing to be touched right now.
Stanley was 1ld at one point...
I don't see any world where he's reasonably availableId love to get Marchenko
