I would imagine Berggren and Ed would be 2 of those. Would be juiced up if both Berggren and Ed were called up tomorrow

Technically speaking, Berggren wouldn't burn one of them right away because they can use emergency recall with only 11 healthy forwards. D would be a different story since they still have some expensive dead weight in the way.

I refuse to care about trade deadline with the wings for the forseeable future. A lot of these players that we all were high on could have been gotten for quite cheap.

We did bring up berggren, going 11/7 tonight against arizona and hopefully he plays in the vegas game in my attendance.

Didn't Yzerman say they weren't calling up Berggren just yet?

Can we package Art and Helene with Holl and send them anywhere else?
I know a place!

North of the 'D"
He never disclosed who was being called up, he did make it sound like it could be multiple guys. Hoping it’s Ed and Berggren

He also confirmed that Berggren becomes waivers eligible at his 4th game played and that they wouldn't be calling him up unless it was to play him, so effectively, if Berggren is getting called up, he's getting called up for good.

Especially when he said it didnt make sense for Kostin to sit in the box with that cap hit. When the same really applies to Holl.
I'm sure it was a lot easier to deal Kostin than to deal Holl.

I still think if Petry was already a Wing before we signed Holl, we wouldn't have even pursued Holl.

It'll eventually work out, but it's not like we have some cap crunch right now and I don't blame them if they don't want to cover part of his salary to move him. And I bet as a GM, you don't want to go to your owner and tell them you want to deal this guy you just signed, AND you have to cover part of his salary a few months right after you signed him.

We like our team

Tired of hearing how long rebuilds take. Just make the playoffs. If it was anyone else, fans would be calling for his job.

Not fans who understand how hard it was to dig out of the hole Holland left and rebuild without any top 3 picks that land generational talent.
The barren landscape Yzerman inherited was worse than what a lot of expansion teams had to deal with. Almost a decade of busted 1st and 2nd round picks and almost no NHL talent. The last 8 years of Holland is right up there with Harkness.

Then the NHL also f***ed them by giving lottery wins to better teams almost every year.

Yup. And the Wings managed to come away with Seider and Raymond in the years they got screwed. Not bad.

The way Yzerman is doing things is perfectly legit for a GM with an unlimited lifespan. If Danielson and Kasper pan out the Wings are cup contenders. I just think he's wasting too much of Larkin's prime. I don't think I've seen anyone on here call for his firing.

The conversation went in a weird direction so I'm guessing one of the dummies on my ignore list is posting. lol.

Edit: Anyone else think he might leapfrog Kasper over Berggen? We need Cs, not wingers. I remember how Yzerman handled Drouin when Drouin was being pissy...

I'm the first to cheer for SY given his overall record as GM .. and what he did in Detroit so far.. but this tweet is just hilarious. If you wouldn't know, after reading "will hopefully be able to clear up the D logjam this summer." you could actually think, someone else made up this mess before he took over.

But he made it himself! There wouldn't be a logjam, hadn't he signed Holl to that ridiculous contract.. and even added Petry afterwards, too.
