I really don't believe we had to add anything. Kane was already our addition. This isn't a cup contender and most of our pieces we need are in the system already. Just enjoy the ride folks. I personally didn't expect much of anything today. Maybe clear some cap space with a guy like holl or Petry but that's it

So our trade deadline was adding Kane (3months earlier) and promoting Berggren.

And shedding some next years cap out.

How Stevie operates, he seems always do only long-term moves. Sighting ahead. No t in the moment.

And like it.

It's hilarious how people here like to set themselves up for disappointment. I predicted Stevie would do nothing. The only surprise is that he got a pick for Kostin.

You can give them all of Ohio, if it brings us the Cup. :D

Can we give them all of Ohio anyways?

Don't forget getting Larkin back from injury!

Notice how Yzerman said "We have 8 picks this year and 8 picks next year". There's that timeframe again, so don't expect much movement next year outside of a few prospects moving up.

I mean, it's probably the proper course to take. It's more exciting to add... but they're in the playoff hunt with no add and nothing they'd be adding right now would make a material shift in their 2024 fortunes. So, you'd only be seeking a long term add. I'm sure they were in on things like Hanifin or Toffoli or Hertl, and either lost out (Hanifin) or passed (the forwards).

I like how he said and I'm paraphrasing " What is the point of making a trade? When you can just call guys up from grand rapids And keep your draft picks"

I see where Yzerman is going with his planning, but trading for top talent instead of raiding garbage cans is really, really anathema to this team and it's very concerning to see.

Our first round pick this year probably won't see a single game of NHL action until Larkin is on the back half of his contract. If ever.

I am hoping he will be active at the draft but the way he was talking about having all of our picks the next two seasons tells me he won't be. Another two years of Larkin's prime wasted.

What top talent did you want him to trade for?
