I actually would consider a Zegras for Cozens trade for two reasons - 1) I think Zegras has an actual chance to be a pure center, and he carries more offensive skill than Cozens. 2) His deal is 2 years, and he will be an RFA at the end of it. If he is good, we sign him to an extension, if not, we free up space to bring in a better piece.

Given all the teams that reportedly have called on Cozens, I would look at a lot of other options before I got to Zegras.

Also very interesting, wonder what a Tuch return would be ?

Tuch would be an enormous price as a deadline trade. 75 point power winger who PKs well, and his ES scoring is really good. He only has 4 PP points this year, that's pretty crazy.

I'd be asking for a wealth of pieces. Like 2 young NHL players with top end potential+. I dont think Tampa would have the pieces.

That's fair

The reason this team is the biggest catastrophe in hockey history is too many young players, why would you want to make that even worse?

Not the worst option, wanted him in the draft. Just have a problem with centers without trade protection. EP40, and the rest are mostly like Zegras and the like. Of course, you can try to catch someone like Beniers or Byfield, but I think the chances are not that great.

"15. The Sabres have won four in a row, but we will see if there is any long-term fallout from Sunday, when Stefan Noesen’s hit on Tage Thompson went unaddressed. One player on another team said he heard from a friend on Buffalo that there was talk of the leadership group and/or alternate captaincies being switched over what didn’t happen. What a gamer, Dennis Gilbert. Fought Mathieu Olivier three seconds into Tuesday's game to make everyone look better. Not easy."

Its interesting I brought up the captaincy and leadership when this happened. What happened also falls on Dahlin not just Samuelsson. It falls on Dahlin to address it in the locker room but probably wont happen. The captain is the guy that leads the team and it looks very bad right now.

EDIT: I would like to say winning does cure all issues and they are winning.

I have no issue trading Tuch but I don't follow Tampa. How does Conor Geekie look? If Buffalo can get a top 6 and top 4 for Tuch I do that all day long.

I'm not saying I would. I'm saying the price would be young roster players with upside, because a team likely isn't trading a one for one for Tuch of a similar talent. I'd expect teams to offer young players +picks, so I'm trying to be realistic in what the offers would be back. I wouldn't want to trade Tuch, I think he is a core piece of this team

Geekie is a middle six center - not a good enough piece for a deal for Tuch

I'm choosing to believe that there's actually something going on behind the scenes here.

That he's not really hurt, but in locker room exile. And more importantly that they're actively shopping him.

Francis Fukuyama isn't our GM and this isn't The End of the Franchise. I still believe that "things can happen."
This is my belief as well. I think he's done here.

Would people consider Cozens for Laf out of NYR? He had a really solid year last year (57 in 82), but has struggled this year. Signed to a very similar deal to Cozens, and is 21. Pure winger, but in the playoffs he has upped his game to another level. In addition, maybe a trade wakes him up a bit to play with that intensity all of the time.

I would think the Rangers would consider trading him, especially since Kakko was dealt earlier this year. They get Cozens who may be able to slot into their Center spine, and the money is even.

I'd hate to use Cozens for another winger.

I'd rather a D or C.

Heartbeat

I would be looking at Cernak plus for Tuch.

6'4 Right Shot Dman... has some meanness to him. Stay at home dman
Seems like robbing Peter to pay Paul. Hard for me to envision a tuch trade that makes us a better team

Is Samuelsson the new Cozens who was the new Skinner who was the new Mittlestadt who was the new Ristolainen who was... just another scapegoat for fans?
The theme with all those players (-mitts) is that they weren't good enough for their role, and we've had too many guys like that. Legitimate issues, although it's true that our struggles are not all player x,y,Z's fault.

Dahlin said that this shouldn't happen, I don't know what the problem is.

Depends on the night and which Tuch you get... you either get dominant Tuch or lazy disinterested Tuch..no in between. The lazy nights are coming far too often lately
