I feel abit bad for Columbus, but it's gonna be hard for them to compete with all these injuries.

Optimistically speaking, there'll be 3 play-off slots in contention between 5 teams.

Ottawa
Detroit
Tampa
NY
Boston

One or two of these teams might be in the mix aswell.

Islanders
Columbus
Montreal
Philly

That's alot of teams.... Hopefully Montreal and Philly continue to sink
b shocked if 1 of bottom 4 makes it. would put rangers in bottom at well.

3 spots between Bos, tampa, drw n sens. meanings drw has to beat 1 out very good team to make it.

could b wrong tho, team like rangers have winning culture and could petal to metal to playoffs, maybe NYI as well to a lesser degree but be tough with barzal out.

I think the Bruins won't make it. I have been saying this for a month or 2.
The rangers have to outplay every team in front of them. They won't make it.

I think Ottawa and NYR are our biggest threat imo. And we always suck against them.

Boston not so much and TB is almost a lock for playoffs. So that leaves the two aforementioned teams.

We gotta stay ahead of them. Next game is huge divisional two points.

Projected standings if teams will keep their current form from last 20 games:

Central Division
1. Winnipeg - 119,5 points (1st President's Trophy candidate)
2. Dallas - 111,1p
3. Minnesota - 96,8p
4. Colorado - 96,4p
---------------------
5. St. Louis - 81,0p
6. UTAH - 74,8p
7. Nashville - 71,5p
8. Chicago - 55,4p

Pacific Division
1. Edmonton - 111,2 points
2. Los Angeles - 96,1p
3. Vegas - 94,6p
4. Calgary - 90,0p
------------------
5. Vancouver - 88,0p
6. Anaheim - 83,9p
7. Seattle - 74,3p
8. San Jose - 48,2p

Metropolitan Division
1. Washington 119,1 points (Top Eastern team)
2. Carolina - 103,0p
3. Columbus - 96,8p
4. NY Islanders - 94,7p
--------------------------
5. New Jersey - 94,4p
6. NY Rangers - 89,4p
7. Philadelphia - 78,7p
8. Pittsburgh - 77,3p

Atlantic Division
1. Detroit - 104,4 points
2. Toronto - 97,9p
3. Ottawa - 95,6p
4. Florida - 95,4p
------------------
5. Tampa Bay - 90,0p
6. Montreal - 88,6p
7. Boston - 83,4p
8. Buffalo - 82,4p

It's interesting how close the Atlantic is. The projected point-gap between best and last team is only 22 points, when at Central it could be 65 points between Jets and Hawks.

Fortunately, the wings have no more games against the NYR, but according to MoneyPuck (for what it worth) the Rags and Wings are neck and neck for WC2 at the end of the season, wings at 92 points and NYR at 91.

The NYI are not far behind, but the wings own every tie-breakers against them I think. A lot of hockey yet to be played, so the wings just need to keep playing f____g hockey and win as many games as they can!

Is there a way Ottawa and Tampa can both lose in regulation tonight?

Hear me out. What if midway through the third, all you hear is glass shattering. Stone Cold Comes Running out, hops over the boards. Boom, 10 stunners, followed by the refs and linesmen. Then over to the bench, gets in Travis greens face, proceeds to stunner all the guys on the bench and the coaching staff.

Then he runs to Tampa's bench, boom stunner, boom stunner, boom double stunner! Until the only men left standing are the goalies.

6 beers coming flying over the boards all three of them smash some ice cold brews and start slamming them.

THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN BOOM STUNNER ON ULLMARK, VASY REALIZES WHAT HAPPENS TOO LATE. BOOM STUNNER!

Now it's time for another beer.

Perfect results from today til the break, all games finish in regulation....

Thursday - Tampa over Ottawa, Utah over Columbus, Washington over Philly, St. Louis over Florida, Seattle over Toronto. Rest don't really care.

Friday - Pittsburgh over Rangers(gross), Winnipeg over Islanders. Rest, don't care.

Saturday - Wings over Bolts, Jersey over Montreal, Vegas over Boston, Florida over Ottawa(some might disagree), Columbus vs Rangers(tough call, just not OT for sure), Minnesota over Islanders.

Sunday - Montreal over Bolts.

That would probably be the best results the Wings could ask for going into the break as far as being in the playoffs. The Rangers Columbus game, hope the team that you feel is the greater threat to the Red Wings loses, which I feel is the Rangers. I see a Columbus swoon coming with all their injuries, plus, we can beat them twice, no more games with the Rangers.

I think the Islanders, Montreal, Columbus (without Marchenko) and Philly fall out. But I think they’ll be spoilers for a few of the teams you listed as in the mix.

NY and Boston seem weak to me. And I think Ottawa is playing above themselves because they finally have goaltending. Detroit’s been hot but they’re also playing above themselves.

Tampa makes it as an automatic, imo. Probably 2nd or 3rd in the division.

Detroit and Ottawa for WC 1/2. Maybe NYR and Ottawa if NYR get it together. This is why I keep advocating the wings become buyers.

What comes to those point projections:

- I think Colubmus will fall, because their injuries are so bad. Their advanced stats aren't either any good to sustain that last 20-game level.

- Montreal is already falling, as expected, they just overachieved.

- Don't believe Red Wings keeping that McLellan-era crazy NHL-best .775 record, but at least .600 from this point towards the end will secure 95 points, which is pretty sure a playoff spot.

I legitimately believe we have a very good shot at the 3rd Division spot. With Boston and Tampa both slipping into rebuild territory, it leaves what was a stacked Atlantic 2 years ago wide open. Screw Ottawa

I agree, feels like 95 points is the target, which would mean 17 more wins, or add in some OT losses with less wins.

17 wins with 28 games left, feels a little daunting. Hope the squad is up to the task.

Yeah, and keeping .600 is freaking nothing. It could be 5 wins and 5 losses (when 2 of the losses are overtime).

We can easily complete that.
