Edmonds might have been a huge steal for Tampa. Maybe he was actually stirring Wrights drink a bit?

Better off trading them was rhetoric. That said, I think what Habs got for 13 and 66 was better than what we got for 14 and 30.

McKenzie had Brennan at 62, so he should have been decent value at 77. Turns out he went 102 so we had another shot at him at 99.

Chevy stated it recently, paraphrased as the best player available for our needs. I get not drafting for position, but position is a factor that needs to be taken into account. There were several RHD ranked around #30 or better.
chevy also said 2 days ago when talking about russian's in the draft that somebody they had rated "so high"(chibrikov) fell to them they just had to take them, my guess is they also had lambert rated much higher than those d so they had to take him

Looks like someone pissed in Mort's cereal this morning

Nope. Chevy pissed in it last night.
Really hope I'm wrong but we got a reach and a high risk swing for the fences.
Some here are overjoyed with these 2 picks. I'm not.

Probably take a goalie with one of these last 2 picks, don't really want to this year though haha. Maybe there's an overager they like somewhere.

Hard to tell with Lush, because he had such a weird year, but Perfetti‘s skating has already come a long way, and it sure didn’t seem to be holding him back as he found his legs in the NHL after shredding the A.

Important, yes. A learnable skill, yes.

Lambert, who knows. If he buckles down and follows the org’s plan then I think he’s likely an excellent player for us down the road.

I agree it is a learnable skill and Perfetti has improved. But he never "shredded" the A, or anywhere close. And he wasn't exactly killing it with the Jets either.

I always wonder how it is possible for a player to have arrived at this point without having developed seriously good skating. They have all been in elite programs for 10 years or so, maybe longer. They all attend summer hockey camps that have skating coaches, etc.

The issue with Lambert is not about skill, it is attitude, on several levels.

Majority of these guys are what? Borderline nhl or third pair potential? Don't think either samberg or heinola have top pair 1D potential samberg is in draft+6 with 15 nhl games under his belt and heinola is used sparingly when there's injury. How does this rank among other nhl teams?

I get that, but our prospect pool is missing star defensive prospects and I don't think there were any at 14 because Korchinski, Mateychuk, and Mintyukov were all gone. And then at 30 I don't see any of those guys with top pairing potential so I'm okay with adding forward depth as we do have some good defensive depth in the pipeline already.

You can find depth RHD in free agency or via trade so if they don't knock your socks off in the draft I'm okay drafting a different position if we have that player higher. Time will tell if passing on Luneau or Chesley at 30 was a mistake, but I don't believe we can know that today. Unless someone builds a time machine and goes 20 years into the future to let us know.

Also, I would've been okay with Brennan, I just think there were better skaters available because I don't see starting potential from any of the goalies in this draft. If we take a goalie we like late I'll be fine with it.

The Leafs just picked up a goalie who is 3 years older than Salomonsson. But at least he has good size and numbers, unlike the goalies who are in their draft year.

You never watched Perfetti in the A then. If his team mates could score he likely has double his points. He really was putting it together last year.

Honestly watching him in the NHL if Dubois and Connor put the puck in the next with all the grade A chances he was setting up he likely has a dozen more points.

Don't stat line judge players with out long term eyetests

Don't worry, you'll feel much better in a couple of years when you can crap all over these picks with your usual 20/20 hindsight.
