Hockey Prospects have Rinzel at #17 in their last ranking.
That's what I was looking at as well. I have liked a lot of their work, and was looking for possible players that they value that "could" possibly be there in the late 20's based on some of the other rankings.

Hard to tell though who could be there.

He's one I was thinking about as well.

Pickering, Rinzel, Bichsel, Chesley, Luneau, or maybe a player we don't expect drops as well.

I'm partial about Pickering. I was eyeballing him for the 2nd round should he fall, but am a bit tempted as a late 1st if he's on the board.

Of course, it would really depend on who else is on the board :)

Let's hope another top prospect falls to us at 14. I have a feeling it'll either be Savoie or Lambert.

So when do the Jets have till to decide on deferring that pick or not?

For some reason I think the Rangers get to decide when we need to make the choice between the end of the playoffs and the draft. I can't remember why I think this but I feel like it's happened before.

Connor McClennon not signed by the Flyers. Wonder if the jets would take a chance on him with a late pick. Put up solid numbers with the Ice but is under sized.

Notice how Dax has cleverly slipped a Warrior into our draft spot. ;)

I wonder if we choose Mateychuk if still on the board and then deal Heinola for forward help.

I'm 100% sure one of those will be available when we pick....

I don't think I'd be too upset with any on that list. (depending on who else is there obviously).

Yeah I've been waffling back and forth on Firkus for awhile now but the kid is just so damn good.

I think if we end up taking Mateychuk we likely keep both and see which one actually turns out to be a top 4 dman. If both do then we can likely trade 1 of them.

Yeah the top of my list is pretty set in stone but after #6, things are constantly changing.

Well Heinola becomes waiver eligible long before we likely get a good read on where Mateychuk is heading as a player.

He'd just fill that prospect spot I the org.

Corey Pronman's recent list came out yesterday, he's got Brad Lambert at 14 (Chesney at 29 as well which is right around where we'd pick with the Rangers).

Also interesting about his list is he has Slafkovsky at #1 now with Wright at #2.

Slaf is getting a lot of hype, he had a pretty solid season. And it's rare to have a kid that big and that skilled who skates that well. He's physical, quick, has great hands and has a wicked release. If he played center, I think he might even be a lock for #1 at this point.

I think the Habs aren't going to chance it and will take Wright no matter what at this point. But NJ might be foolish if they pass on Slaf with the overall package he has.

True. It would be kinda cool if we draft him because he lives right across the street from me during the season. I could just walk over and get him to sign a jersey.

I believe that if NJ was picking first, Slaf would be their pick. They've bot Hischier and Hughes down the middle, Slaf would be perfect for them.

And I can't see Montreal passing on the big center, that type of player is something Montreal hasn't had in a very long time.
