Again you assumptions have as much truth to them (but actually less) than that they were only able to reach this deal with Kreider this morning and that was their priority goal while the potential return for Fast was less then underwhelming (see Namestnikov).

one word was “sensed” and I don’t believe for a second this deal couldn’t have been finalized earlier had they reached out to Kreider’s agent earlier. Look at the trades league wide. Teams paid a fortune yet the Rangers couldn’t get much for Kreider? Doesn’t add up for me

We want both teams to miss the playoffs, Leafs pick get in the top 10 so Leafs pick is differed to 2021 and the Canes pick goes high and I think they will have no choice but give us their own pick on the day of the draft? Unless of course they can give us the 2021 Leafs pick in which case we hope the Leafs suck again?

So here’s my thought process, we want a pick that has the ability to move up in the draft, which could only be top 3 anyway. If Toronto’s pick moves up, it differs to next year.

I dont think we trade for a defenseman tbh. We have a lot of LHDs close and its possible ADA makes the move.

A true 3C would be nice or another middle6 center. I dont know if TB could afford Cirelli but I'd be all up on that. After this season they're up against the cap, have only Mac and Hedman on defense and owe Sergachev and Cirelli new contracts. I'd love to help them

The only move I can see them making is for a top LHD.... consolidating some of our youth into 1 gem. Like a Werenski... or a Dahlin

If Pageau got a 1st/2nd/3rd then Kreider would've gotten more. The assumption you have to make here is that the Rangers felt they were better off signing Kreider than taking three tosses at the dart board for a player(s) that likely will never amount to another Kreider.

Why does it matter when it was signed if both parties really just wanted to make it work? All that matters is that they did.

We need a quality LHD wayyyyyyy more than we need a center.

Even if there is organizational depth at LHD, that depth is either not going to be ready for NHL minutes next year (or perhaps even the year after) or lacks the upside to eat those hard minutes.

They've created a window for themselves whether we like it or not. It would behoove them to do the best they can to ice a contending team ASAP (with out getting stupid.)

Sucks for Trouba. His buddy's gone, he's probably second-guessing himself what he could've done more to help his brother out. Otoh, I think he'll beast down the stretch.

If Lindgren and ADA are slotted in... we only need 1 from the group to step up. Similar to what happened this year with Lindgren.

We also might be stuck with your homeboy Staal for 1 more year if HL retires or is bought out.
