Isn't that true, but this trade looks real bad at first glance.
A late 1st round pick, a meddling D prospect, a very average forward, and unloading of a bust free agent signing for a big bodied proven scorer for a possible Cup run??? Not nearly as bad once you take a closer look at the possible payback. No one left the Bruins that really mattered.

Lindgren is defensive D prospect. Those have the worst bust rate of any player type outside of goalies. Most quality defensive D in the NHL were point getters at lower levels and had more dynamic games. I don't place much value on prospects who aren't productive at lower levels. He's fine as far as his type goes. They usually bust at very high rates.

Spooner is a one dimensional winger who sometimes masquerades as a very piss poor center. He's not a good two way player like Rick Nash is (for those who haven't noticed, Nash had become the this). Nash with the right center could again be a huge goal scoring threat. Spooner just isn't. This is a big upgrade. I don't care what the critics say.

Late 1sts? They're nice. Usually they bust.

Nice to dump Beleskey, even with the retention. A buyout is 2/3 rather than 50%.

It's a nice return for the Rangers. It doesn't hurt the Bruins much.

People say they overpaid for "the name" because fans get excited about it. I think that's half right. They overpaid for "the name" because their lockerroom will be excited. Pens got Brassard. We got Nash. The team will be fired up. This is good for the playoffs.

What do you mean you don't THINK it's true? Look at his production versus all of the other centers in the NHL. Now factor in the fact that he's a good two way player. It quickly becomes clear that he's a very high end 2C. Same as Stepan. How many centers do you think put up .67 in this league every year?
34/43/31(this year so far) point totals last 3 years, .5 pace last year in his first full year in many years, injured like Hanzal mostly. No, he is not a high end 2C and he is above average on D but not great, Stepan and Hanzal are much better on D. If you are correct in your assessment, the Oilers would either keep him or get a good return for him. Watch the return when they trade him, that will tell his real worth (low end 2C/high end 3C) and I doubt it is high end 2C type return. I wouldn't trade the 7th pick in this draft and a DeAngelo level prospect for him as an example.

Nash is built for the playoffs, and Boston believes they have a chance at the cup so I see why they did it. All that matters is the SC and Boston has as good a chance as any. Who would have thought that when the season started.

You have to stop reading stat lines and watch players. As an example stat line favors Maroon over Nash, which do you think is better??? Nuge accepted checking role in Edmonton and has learned to do it very well. BTW that 7th overall returned a goalie as well.

There is a thread discussing that the Rangers had inquired about Domi. Love Domi but would consider swapping high potential for high potential -> Domi + McInnis for Zinbanejad?

My opinion is based on his play in context, it isn't based on stats, RT's was. I mentioned the stat to refute his argument. I know RNH has accepted the checking line roll, he is a good 3C low end 2C. Again, watch the return.

He has been playing 2nd line center and doing it very well, I doubt he goes for less that Stepan. I'm not sure he actually gets traded as it seems the Oilers don't really like Draisaitl at center.

I think RNH will be traded before next season because of cap reasons. I would think they would rather get rid of Lucic, but if they can't they will have about 33M wrapped up in four players. Interesting times in Edmonton for next year.

Oilers get Pontus Aberg in a 3-way trade so that "dream" is dead.

Zibanejad is a bust as a 1C. I can't understand why people would want him.

and Rangers picking 50% of Nash salary. Not bad at all for Boston.
