That stat shows that the Bluejays have been unlucky and the Mariners have been lucky. The Bluejays are the better team.

Tells me two things:

1. Luck
2. They're better in close games = better bullpen.

Even if they don't make the playoffs at least they're playing meaningful baseball in October, which is very similar to making the playoffs.
Playing a meaningful game tomorrow and not making the WC isn’t a whole lot different than the team that loses the WC game on Monday.

I said at the time that I hoped that game they gave away in April when they ridiculously started the absolutely horrible Tanner Roark wouldn't come back and bite us in the ass at the end of the year ... and here we are.

One can go back through the schedule and see quite a few games the Jays pissed away due to weird managerial decisions and or bullpen screwups. Semien's play against the Tigers.

For me it’s Ray’s 6th inning on Thursday vs NYY. Had the Jays held on it’d bee a totally different scenario right now, and we had our ace who was wiping the floor with NYY hitters through 5.1 IP, then everything went free falling when the Yankee hitters kept circling the bases
