Demko gets a few games maybe.

Goalie in the minors without surgeries, I think no surgeries.

Several teams have defencemen that are upgrades

If we're set on trading him then trade him now, trade him asap.

Don't let him ruin the tank by going on a heater when he comes back and consider the 5+ draft position gap we'd lose by keeping him as part of the trade return, like consider part of the return being trading up to 5th from 10th or whatever it ends up being.

I wonder what the Oilers would give up for Demko? Demko is only 5 million so they could find a way to squeeze him in. That salary must be super attractive to a lot of teams.

Although there's been a regime change in Vancouver, Ian Clark is still the guru of the Canuck crease.

They're going to consult him before they trade Demko, that's for sure. And if he is dealt, then it's because Clark is convinced that they can find a replacement in a hurry. Either that, or he's concerned that Demko's early season struggles were a sign of things to come.

Then there's surgeries.......For such a young goalie, Demko has had a lot of surgeries and injuries. He was forced to have hip surgery when he was back in college. And had off-season surgery this past season, although what exactly for, is a bit of a mystery.

So if Demko really does want out of Vancouver, the message should be: "Don't let the screen door hit your backside on the way out the door'. Somebody looking for a potential 'franchise goalie' will overpay.

If there ever was a case where a player was not "forced to have surgery" it was there.

They did it pre-emptively to avoid future issues. He chose to have hip surgery.

9 days from the previous last post in thread.
Demko doing a bit of practice with the team, and with out.

27 yrs old, with 3 yrs left after this season @ $5 mill per; - no trade restrictions.

Wonder how many teams need a goalie, for these next few years; that also have an up and coming goalie prospect to trade back to us?

Demko kills the rumour that he expressed any desire to leave Vancouver (last 30 seconds of the interview).

With Demko back, watch the Canucks go on a meaningless wining streak down the stretch. All it will accomplish is sate the palette of the apologists and dreamers, and ruin their draft position.

If he is healthy he’s healthy. So long as he’s not being rushed back when he’s good to
Good he should play.

He’s been poor this season. You’d want them to at least get something positive out of it about his game.

I hope they let him heal all the way but I get the idea this was another put it off until the end of the season or close to it before it is repaired AGAIN!

Knee, Groin, back and hip are all areas that a hip problem affects. Lok way back in the posts and you find that I stated that it seemed it was his right hip that was an issue. And now it is everything except his right hip. Even if he only had a "cleaning" the recovery is not that long, 6 to 12 weeks but for a goalie longer or should be.

I really hope I am wrong for two reasons, first is his career and health the second is more selfish, so he can be traded.

Yup. I think about that quote a lot and it's looking incredibly prophetic given what's happened this season.

This is why lots of NHL teams are trying to adopt a more 1A/1B arrangement with two goalies who can give the team a string of quality games if asked, and hedges against injury risk.

Obviously it's great when you have one of "the guys" aka Shesterkin, Vasilevskiy, Saros, Sorokin, but a huge reason why a team like Boston is successful right now is they are rolling an even split between Ullmark and Swayman and getting quality while not overloading or overstressing either of their goalies.

Last year was the first time Demko played more than 46 regular season games (64), and surprise surprise, he may have been overworked.

Yep, just another chapter in a complete 'downer' of a season.

Demko has gone from being in the words of Jim Rutherford ' a franchise goalie' to a huge question mark next season. Too many injuries and surgeries for a guy who's only 27. What's he going to be like when he's in his 30's?

Ian Clark better start beating the bushes again for goalie help in the draft or on the UFA market.

do anyone know how many surgeries have he had? re aggravating an injury is not unheard of... I fear this is an overreaction. But shutting him down is a sound move for the remaining 25 games.

Demko has proclaimed himself 100 percent healthy, and could play tonight if they need him. Hmm.....if Silovs or Delia is back between the pipes tonight, maybe there is something to these trade rumors.

Is he being held out, pending a deal? L.A. Kings are the most logical suitor......and they have a prospect pool that makes one salivate. Stay tuned.
