I don't know if TT stagnated as much as never really developed? This guy had bigger than Aho expectations of offense on him. I've watched a lot of hawks games the last two years, my lady is from Chicago. I'm not talking down the deal because I think it was necessary and it gives us what we need at a price we can afford but I'm just not sold on TT being more than he's been so far. This trade was fair, we didn't "steal" anything. TT was a mid first rounder and if Bickel walks (likely) we'll have paid a second and a third for a mid first rounder who is slight, not at all physical, and hasn't developed the offense thought of him. How many playoff coaches want to play slight offensive minded players who don't put up a ton of points?
The reality is we need forwards and to add this guy is a plus in anyone's eyes, including mine. Bickel might work out here too, you can't say he won't find a role. I'm just saying we paid a price here, and if TT stays a slight peripheral player who gives us 30 pts a season and Bickel goes away, while the Hawks find a way to make those picks useful to them then this was not a lopsided deal for us.
It's still a plus because we aren't a playoff team, and if this helps us get there than hell yes. Once we are there us being pushed around easily may be the next step to fix. Right now I put TT on a similar level with Lindy. Both are undersized, TT is the more explosive skater and Lindy is better at being strong on the puck. We're adding an undersized Aho as well. The skill level continues to improve but we are also still an easy team to shove around if you can catch us.
