nah you're just looking it from a biased point of view as a ranger fan. was a regular hit maybe his elbow got up a bit it was hard to tell. it was not a hard hit or viciousat all. doesn't even look like it hits him in the head on the replay they just showed. might have hit him with the shoulder. won't be a suspension or anything.

The one where its the player on your team who is hurt as opposed to on the other team. He barely got him almost all the contact was to the chest - maybe via elbow

I'm thinking about not watching the rest of this season and instead rewatching the 2011-2012 season in real time. Anyone know where I can find all the games?

You can watch Vancouver. They just battle backed again tonight, while this one quit after seeing just how big and fast the other team was.

The best forward on this team had to drop the gloves during game one, and then takes a head shot in game 3 with a history of concussions. Too many low compete journeymen on the roster to care.

Callahan - 1 team
Nash - 2 teams
Richards - 3 teams
Brassard - 2 teams
Stepan - 1 team
Zuccarello - 1 team
Boyle - 2 teams
Dorsett - 2 teams
Girardi - 1 team
Staal - 1 team
Del Zotto - 1 team
McDonagh - 1 team
J. Moore - 2 teams
Stralman - 3 teams

So... D. Moore, Asham, Pyatt, Pouliot are the only guys who could ever, in any world, be considered journeymen.

Quoting myself from (this thread) before the season started. Just sayin.

Here's the deal from where I'm sitting. We don't have the skill/talent level throughout our lineup to be an offensive team. We were great in 11-12, not because of skill or talent, but because of work ethic, toughness and a team concept. That is the last time we'll be an elite team for a while, until we win some draft lotteries or make the right trades. Lundqvist is elite in close, he can make saves no one has any business making, but he can't stop routine wrist shots from the circle. Without 5 warriors in front of him to take those bullets, he doesn't have the numbers he's had. We're in for a rude awakening. The Rick Nash trade was the beginning of the end. I'll be right here with you as a Rangers fan, but we're going to be suffering for a while, and the 11-12 Torts team is going to be the stuff of legend. And I firmly believe that we were one Sean Avery away from going to the finals in 11-12, and we would've jacked the Kings up, but I digress a little.

an "I told u so" posting a mere 3g in? u could have.at least waited until game 5 or 6...

this team truly.lacks.a.physical presence within the respective forward/defensive positions

we are.soft. Thornton.is.right

If I tell you so early, don't I get bonus points at the end of the season? Or are you guys not playing 'fantasy forum' this year? :sarcasm:

Not gonna go on an angry rant but again just very disappointed.

Several incidents last night that warranted a physical response and...nothing. Have a little spine, pride, passion.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the LA game went the way it did when the Rangers came out firing physically. In the same way I don't think 11-12's finish and physicality was a coincidence.

Chalk it up to a faster team, tired legs, whatever. None of those excuse a lack of fire. Tough part is, as I think kenjets said in the PGT, it's not just a player it's an identity. One they need to find consistently IMO.

The '10-11 season is over isn't it?

Why do we continually romanticize a roster that is two years old?

The 'If only...' around here is ridiculous. Two years ago is TWO years ago...move forward FFS!

Im a little worried about Nash.

Lucic got him good last year and last night's shot wasn't exactly jarring. We all want him to play more physical, but at what cost?

Well, for starters, that team rarely lost by more than a goal or two, and last night's product lost by 7. That'll cause you to romanticize the past fairly quickly.

But more importantly, that '11-12 team had some fire and made me proud as a fan.

Yeah, asking him to be a one man wrecking crew is not in his best interest. Unfortunately, the team doesn't have the skill to allow him not to do that and win.

11-12 was the money season. We'll be romanticizing it for a while because it was the closest we're going to get for a while to being a legitimate contender.

If nothing else, it's an excuse to stop talking about 94. :D

Yes exactly. Take those roster spots, replace them with a hungry kid or two, and a couple of guys that will stand up for the team, and I think that a watchable battle level should be present.

They took **** from no one. If a team tried to do what SJ did last night to that team, there would have been hell to pay because they actually cared.

They also had the personnel to get it done up and down the lineup. Rupp, Prust, Avery, Duby, Bickel. No one ****ed with that team, and if they tried they got corrected in a hurry.

Yep. Hell Callahan brings it every night too. Sauer.

Can't believe I left out Sauer. We're still feeling his absence as much as anyone else.

Cally wasn't a deterrent but he was (and still is, to be fair) a solid, hard nosed player.

But he has no supporting cast, and a lot of that supporting cast were the guys that did the dirty work.

Yep. I said this over the off-season. It's a soft group. No response. No energy.

Thornton was dead wrong that year, and his team took a shellacking back then. Last night we saw more journeymen try and play for the lady byng under AV.

This team isn't going to be good this year, that's just the hard truth.

We still have bright spots to look at. I'm spending this year watching Stepan, J. Moore and McDonagh, and hoping Miller gets called up so I don't have to order an AHL package or something.

There are bright spots throughout the lineup. If Callahan takes a cap friendly deal, that's someone that we can use going forward.

I really don't see any plausible way that we can keep Lundqvist and make a legit run at the cup in the next few years... He's our best trade chip for legit scoring, preferably by way of prospects/picks at the deadline.

In a few years, McD and Moore will be in their prime. Step should be seasoned. McIlrath and Allen should be dependable middle pairing guys. Miller should be on the verge of breaking out.

Also we have Boo in the wings and that kid should be golden.

We do have a future. We just need to make the right moves to compliment our pieces, and root for our key guys to make strides every year.

Michael Haley instead of Asham

Is there a reason why Haley isn't on this team? I thought he looked good in preseason. He's willing to fight anyone and he's not a bad player. Is Asham that much better then him?

I know this is a minor move but I bet if Haley played last night, he's not going out there slashing someone on the wrist or dancing with them and getting four minutes.

I'm sure there will be the typical HF answers of, "who cares?" but I'd much rather him on that fourth line then Asham.
