Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Agreed.
I think Prusts and Dubinskys really get a team going and indirectly lead to an easier time scoring goals. Our team last season looked so much more relaxed and much more confident, even when we went through periods where we had trouble scoring.

he said a while back this team lacked toughness losing prust, nobody was scared of them, easy to play
now with clowe and other depth players they have that back, they got that forward depth and toughness they need
i know its only one game but it really showed tonight this team now has that "sparkplug" inserted and dumped a overpaid softie
this team imo will get back to what they had last year, maybe even better is richards steps up and staal returns

There's no need to insult Gaborik here. He really gave his all and was working his best in a system that did not fit him at all. Even so he made adjustments to a more Ranger-esque style of play, particularly with learning to score garbage goals. Yes he underperformed this year, and yes this trade is probably better off for us, but Gabby deserves respect for what he's done overall here.
I'll always remember him for this one. In reference to the main point of the topic regarding toughness, yes Don Cherry was right. I remember rock bottom being pushed around by Lars Eller in Montreal.
LOL at the overpaid softie. Everyone who is overpaid is seemingly a softie to many. But I think most sensible people show leniency for a 40 goal scorer when it comes to "softness." The rangers went to game 6 of the ECF with that "softie" in the lineup. He scored big goals during the year and in the playoffs. Get off your high horse.

Seriously, this thread after one game? (Albeit an amazing game).
Do Rangers fan enjoy being disappointed? I know OP said it's only one game, but we can't come to any conclusions after just ONE game.
Let's give it a week.
Very promising game though, so much fun to watch.

You're right that one game doesn't mean anything, but we did have 35 games that proved that we had become as soft as ice cream. It had to be addressed. Ironically, it was a mess that management created in the first place.

He's been underrated his whole career, going back to the 2006 draft.
Out of the 3 assets we got back I was most surprised to see his name. Anyone that has watched him knows he's a good player, max effort all the time. Surprised Jarmo would deal him, but they have plenty of assets to acquire a similar player.

2 days ago we were the softest. Now we're supposed to be one of the toughest.
Whatever. I'll be really happy to see blue-collar hockey played by tough players again.

I have to say, I am a VERY happy Ranger fan today after the moves they made. I am glad Gorton and co. understand the need for some more toughness and sandpaper throughout the line-up.

Who said today we are one of the toughest? If we get Dorsett back this year and send out Clowe,Dorsett and Asham on a nighlty basis we will be,but only when Dorsett is back..Add Big Mac next year and we challenge Bruins for meanest in league..All badass dude who can play..My dream has come true.
As much as I am a fan of pure skill, I've always understood how well it's complimented by toughness. The NHL is a physical first league. Rarely can a team over come the physical element without a proper response.
I loved Gabby for his skill, but his mental toughness was severely lacking this year. Well below what it was in years past. He wanted out and it showed in terms of who he was on the ice this year. His team mates liked and respected him, but he's never been known as a guy to glue the locker room together.
Herb Brooks always said " I want the right players, not just the best players." Did we take a step in that direction yesterday. Don't know yet. But I think so.

I don't get the Doresett/Prust comparison iah
Prust was well composed and a penalty killer, was a defensive tactical fighter. Had some speed and was good around the net. Through his body around a decent amount, and was a good shot blocker.
Dorsett is a player that plays with reckless abandon (in the best way possible), can penalty kill if needed, and is a heavily offensive fighter. Takes WAY more dumb penalties then Prust, but mostly as a result of his game. Also, is a more violent hitter.
Yes they are in the same weight class and Dorsett will end up slotting into the same role, but Dorsett is more along the lines of a Haley with much better hands. (btw good bye Haley, I never new yah

It's not a comparison that gives you a mirror image. Different players. But in terms of overall toughness, compete level, dedication to team mates. They are very similar.

I too, like that the front office addressed the need for team toughness. We really did need some MOAR JAM.

thats all you can ask for out of an NHL player.. toughness is everything.. it dictates the pace of the game.. makes opposing teams know theyre in for a 60min battle.. i love it.. you need a ton of heart and physicalness to play this game..

Prust wasnt anything before torts coached him up.. what makes you think he can't coach up doresett?? both came in here at the same age of 26.. With all the praise we've heard about this guy, hes a winner!
Perhaps it's because he's been out west, but I really didn't realize what a good fighter he is. Rarely loses.
Definitely good to have. Don't want him taking on the John Scott's of the world, but it's good that he can.
