you clearly dont know hockey and see how the little things help teams.. or the type of players we gave up.. this is what pisses me off about these boards.. everyone looks at ****en stats.. so disappointing.. people have no clue...

No clue? It's rather obvious honestly. Dubinsky either doesn't register points or gets hurt and Bobrovsky is having an excellent season. Perhaps you should provide more substance to your post rather than just telling me that I have no clue.

And this teams problems run far deeper than little things. Our supposed two best players aren't performing up to snuff and we can't stay healthy. The injury bug has been biting us. Dubinsky was a friggin' whipping boy last season and now everyone wants to bring him back on a red carpet. Geez.

Yea it won't work in ny with the. Pc. Non meeting fans like the ones on this board, yes the days of tough hockey are gone. My butt every where else but ny there are goons fighters and tough guys

maybe a little harsh my bad.. but i guess i look at the game different then a lot of fans.. everyone sees stats stats.. but he had a **** year who knows what he couldve done if he was still on the squad this year.. he still played a solid two way game, stood up for teammates and played a physical hard game.. he is missed, and to think otherwise is silly.. just like if we traded gabs.. doubt we get a similar talent back for him..but the boards on here are what have you done for me lately..

It was after a loss. I understand. Tensions run high. I'm still a bit charged which will crash into depression any minute.

Dubinsky was an extremely likable and extremely hardworking player. Losing a guy like him, one of the "glue" characters, does have a noticeable effect. I don't want to dismiss that. It's just that this team is never in position to acquire a talent like Nash so that's a move I make every single time.

I do get frustrated at the constant calls for toughness as I feel there are more pressing needs, but it is true that we are astoundingly softer than we were last year. I believe we led in fighting majors, the players blocked shots on will (now it looks forced) and they just stood up for each other. Losing games is awful, but losing them while essentially being picked on does strike a bit at the personal level.

Agreed. Dubsinky was part of a hockey trade. It happens. We got a star player.

The real players we miss are Feds and Prust, who we lost for nothing. These were heart and soul guys; glue guys. We lack that type of player, right now. Things haven't worked out. The composition of the team has changed, and again, it's our worthless GM Sather who mucks things up. UGH!

Nope but it makes guys play bigger and not scared. It also makes the other team play with there heads up don't think for a second the other teams don't know when enforcers are playing

I don't disagree, but I don't think that's our main concern right now, nor should it be. I think Asham coming back will help ease the toughness problem a bit, until the team gets it's offensive problems sorted out. Hopefully he can stay healthy, he really looked good in tonight's game.

Or Nazem Kadri tearing up the league. Or Reimer and Scrivens stepping up bigtime. Or Phil Kessel quietly climbing to 2nd on the team in scoring. Or Cody Franson having a career year.

You know what, forget that scoring more goals than the other team stuff. It's only the object of the game. So overrated.

yeah.. i am not saying i wouldnt do that trade or wish for a redo.. anytime an elite player is available you have to try to get them.. so glad nash is here and id make that trade along with every gm in the league 10/10 times.. i am just saying that a ton of ranger fans here think scoring goals is everything, however the role player "glue" guys are forgotten about all the little things they do.. toughness, physical play to me means everything.. it dictates the play of the game and makes opponents fear or kno theyre in for a battle.. wish we were able to keep dubs and prust, but i think we just need to retool bottom 6 with a guy or two.. i want a guy like clowe or torres here instead of pyatt and powe(although hes been good i want a tougher guy in that role)..and hopefully haley could be the next prust here.. he can skate pretty well and adds that toughness.. we just need to be patient this season... sucks bc its a shortened season and a mad dash, but rangers dont need any drastic measures they have a ton of amazing pieces, just missing a few that can spark the team..

Wings added toughness this year to offset the loss of skill and allow some space for a few guys . That speaks volumes IMO . Soft players like looking down the bench and seeing some security ...who would not want that element when they are on the ice ???? If the Canucks had of figured it out...they would have beat the Bruins . You look down the Ranger bench and you wonder...who will have my back if I lay a heavy check into somebody ???? I would definitely not say it was overrated .
 
I'm cringing right now at the thought of us against PITT with the two moves they just made. Morrow is an older version of Cally and Douglas Murray is a brick **** house!

Nah...maybe not. Zuccarello can handle them...
 
Last season Rangers opponents fought 64 times in 82 games (.78 times per game), and they were 31-51.

This season they've fought 12 times in 31 games (.39 times per game) and they are 16-15.

So fighting less has obviously worked out well for Rangers opponents. :sarcasm:

For me, it's not just fighting, its the ability and desire to do whatever it takes to win. I don't see that from this years team at all.

not the NY Rangers. although they got some nastiness last year when the got John Scott who was just a useless player... this year their big time trade will be something like Bourque and 3rd (FLA) for Ryan Whitney :help: i have a horrible feeling about that. Smid will end up on the Flyers or Devils... :help: i hope i am wrong....
 
It sucks that we lost a bunch of these guys who were 'tough', but looking back, I think Sather made the right move on each of them.

The trade for Nash sending Dubi away was a move that should be made every single time, Feds was a defensive player on a roster that needed a boost in offense, and Prust simply wanted too much $$ for what he was; at best a 3rd liner.

I really think Sather played it right on those 3 players, and I have been hating on Glen ever since he was named Rangers GM
 
I speak to players on the leafs weekly and you can figure out which ones and having the 3 monsters they have hitting and opening up space for the guys has helped everyone play with more space and confidence.
