Until the bitter end, Nordström will be in the first attack, that's just the way it is, and we must hope that Canada does not put too much pressure on Nylander's turn. So far, Canada has been undisciplined, which could be a slight advantage for Sweden.

What would Nylander look like if he had Asplund's centers and Brome's wing?

Its possible Hallam will keep doing the grinding love fest. Watch him put Glenn Gustafsson on 1st line next WC.

When Willy speaks Swedish does he have a Canadian accent ? He's a beauty ain't he ? Heart is with Canada but I might actually despise 2 players on the team. I have a man crush on Willy, however.

No, he speaks in a Stockholm accent.

You have to remember he only lived (as a child) in Canada until he was 2yo and was raised in a Swedish household.

The family simply moved to where Michael was going to play(though they spent all the time when Michael wasn't playing, in Sweden) up until 2011 when the family(bar Michael) stayed put in Sweden while Michael spazzed around everywhere.

Again, I'm not talking about the skill. I'm talking about the mindset. There lies the stagnation. It's not physical, it's mental.

But I'm confused what is wrong with Hockey Canada's mental mindset if we continue to win at all levels at a decent clip?

I don't think that to claim a stagnation is quite accurate and you can't do it based on the performance in WHC. I guess it's more a problem how international hockey at WHC is valued by the players. As a matter of fact canadian players don't care for it and mostly decline a participation. Imagine the best possible teams with all players available at the moment. Compared to the swiss for example, where almost every player in NA joins whenever possible except due to contractual reasons (Fiala), family (Josi who becomes a father, Bärtschi who is busy organising his move back to Switzerland) since they all are extremely comited to play in the NT. If Canda could ice the best possible team you also wouldn't have that much discussion about the value of the trounamant itself (not best on best bla bla) since that team would exceed the NHL Caphit by far and would be a very exciting one to watch. I think the same applies for Sweden probably to a slightly lesser extent

Wish it was Peter Nordström instead
I wish it was any other forward on the team instead except for maybe Anton Bengtsson. Who I don’t think would do Well as a winger.

Today I want to see

Brome - Peterson - Nylander
Asplund - Kellman - Bemström
Grundström - Wallmark - Friberg
Lang - Åman - Klingberg

Switching places between Brome and Grundström is fine too. But don’t use Nordström in the top 6, obviously. And let Nylander play with Peterson, Wallmark is not in good form right now.

Is there any news regarding who will be the starting goalie for Sweden? Is it Ullmark or Hellberg?

edit: For the upcoming Sweden - Canada matchup

It's Ullmark. No chance Garpen goes with Hellberg.

Forward lineup will 99% likelyhood have 0 changes.

OEL will return on defense in the top 4, so that will return it to what it was before he had to exit with his injury.

Thanks. I was wondering since both goalies have been performing admirably. I assume this game will not be a blow out, rather a tight game that goes to overtime. As a Finn i must root for Sweden in this game. I just have to. Can't stand Canadians proceeding to the semi-finals.

"Garpenlöv avslöjade sen också att Oliver Ekman-Larsson, som avgjorde VM-finalen 2017 just på straff, kommer slå en straff. Han öppnar sen även för namn som William Nylander, Carl Klingberg, Joakim Nordström och Emil Bemström. Den sistnämnde blev straffhjälte mot Finland i gruppspelet."

Gaaah, Nordström is gonna be one of the penalty takers

Hellberg has been shaky IMO. Ullmark has played one game in which he had just arrived and couldn’t really perform up to par he should’ve had the rather meaningless game against Latvia to get himself into the tournament, because individually Ullmark is CLEARLY better. But Sweden has Garpenlöv so Nah f*** that.

*EDIT* Please disregard this post entirely, as I am an idiot. That is all, thank you.

Ullmark played against Latvia and had a 21 save shutout mate

Nordström is a fantastic goalscorer though!

His career high of 17 goals in a single season can't easily be beat. Just ask Asplund, & Lang. Don't ask anybody other than that, though.

And his skill! The goalie won't be able to follow the puck if Joakim himself doesn't know where the puck is after he touches it!

If only Nordström was given a real shot in the NHL his hands would be considered McDavid level.

This is Garpenlövs actual opinion.
