Pettersson is #3 in points among Swedish defensemen and leads the Pens in +/- by a good margin.

Wennberg has better stats on a bottom feeder than Karlsson has on a contender.

Remember, ridiculously early hot takes.

If M.Pettersson keeps it up be could beat out one of OEL/Lindholm/A.Larsson.

W.Karlsson have put up more points than Wennberg every season and is far more better 2-way player and more gritty. Wennberg has no Business being on the Olympic team. Even Backlund is better than Wennberg.

I do think Arvidsson is the superior player, but Järnkrok/Fast brings something else to the team and can take the heavy minutes on PK along with Eriksson-Ek and Silferberg/Bäckström. But in the end it doesn't matter, they would pick Joel Lundqvist if he was available.

I was under the impression that Arvidsson could play in PK aswell. He has the speed, grit and smartness. He is also off to a good start with 4 points in 5 games.

They are gonna pick Dennis Rasmussen, he is available. Never understood the greatness with him.

Forsberg - Zibanejad - Pettersson
Landeskog - Bäckström - Nylander
Burakovsky - Karlsson - Lindholm
Rakell - Eriksson Ek - Arvidsson
Höglander - Silfverberg

Hedman - Klingberg
Brodin - Karlsson
Dahlin - Lindholm
Ekholm - OEL

Markström
Lehner
Ullmark

It’s early but that is the team I would go for probably. Maybe we could bring another defensive minded right handed defenceman for balance. Dahlin definately belongs on the roster though, no doubt at all about it. One of the best play drivers in the NHL. I would also consider bringing Olofsson as another weapon.

Olofsson is deadly on PP. Could be a good guy to bring as 13,14 th forward.

Victor Hedman – Mattias Ekholm
Jonas Brodin - Erik Karlsson
Oliver Ekman-Larsson - Hampus Lindholm
Rasmus Dahlin/Rasmus Andersson

I picked 7 defenders. Can't decide between Dahlin and Andersson. Gustav Forsling, John Klingberg and Adam Larsson also have a good chance to be part of the roster.
While in attack - Backlund, Fast, Wennberg, Burakovsky, A. Kempe, Bratt and Hörnqvist with decent chances.

Gabriel Landeskog - Mika Zibanejad - Filip Forsberg
Elias Pettersson - Nicklas Bäckström - William Nylander
Viktor Arvidsson - Elias Lindholm - Rickard Rakell

Olofsson continues his strong start. Would love to see him with Bäckström with that shot.

That could be interesting. I'm assuming they'll start Nylander at RW with Backstrom since they've had such good chemistry in the past together. If that's the case I definitely think a shooter at LW would be a good call. But I think it might be tough for Olofsson to get onto a big line ahead of guys with longer track records.

Personally I think Landeskog-Backstrom-Nylander would be excellent. But they might prefer Landy with Mika.

Landeskog Zibanejad Nylander
Raymond Pettersson Lindholm
Jarnkrok Backstrom Forsberg
Karlsson ErikssonEk Silfverberg
Olofsson

Brodin Karlsson
Ekholm Andersson
OEL Larsson

Going with Raymond would be a bold choice. Return of form by Karlsson is good timing.

Pettersson needs to get his game together.Lindholm has been playing great at C so would be interchangeable on wing.

Hampus and OEL over Forsling? Not a smart move.

yeah if forsling keeps playing this good there is no way he is not on the team.

Hedman - Brodin
Forsling - R.Andersson
Pettersson - Karlsson
Dahlin - Larsson

If we gonna go after the start so far, this would be our d-core. But still lots of time until feb. I expect Klingberg, Lindholm, Ekholm and OEL to start playing good and make the team.

Too bad Klefbom is always injured. Very good d.

Raymond is too green to play that high up. If he is making it, its as 13, 14 th forward.

Jarnkrok on 3rd line makes no sense. arvidsson is twice the player he is.

Theres talk right now on C more during the Frolunda Djurgarden intermission that they think Edvinsson should get a shot for the Olympic team given how well hes playing in Sweden right now. Seems like he would need at least an injury or two to really get a shot though. What are the odds if he keeps playing the way he is in Sweden that he could make it over someone like Rasmus Andersson or an Adam Larsson to play this year?

I also wonder how many points Raymond would have to have to be seriously considered at his age

Sounds like sensationalism to me. If Garpenlöv considers something like that he's an even bigger idiot than I thought. Surely there's more than 8 defensemen who are better than Edvinsson right now, no matter how well he's doing in the SHL.

Dahlin was selected for the 2018 olympics without NHLers but barely played. A 17 year old Dahlin was better than Edvinsson is today, probably. So no, Edvinsson should not be considered. Maybe he can play the worlds in May though.

we have about 10 d in NHL better than Edvinsson right now. His time will come but its not yet. World Championship later in May, Edvinsson should be a lock imo.

I would say Raymond needs to be PPG or not far from it to be considered.

dahlin was better offensivly. edvinsson is better in his own zone

That’s a sound assessment, but Dahlin was a better player overall. Rasmus Dahlin is the second best prospect to be drafted in the 2010s after McDavid.

If we get a medal in Olympics in any form. Ut is realy good. That coach and the players we got should not get far. Great depth and high end on D. Almost only depth players on F.

All teams (except Canada) have weaknesses though. It's easy to stare yourself blind.

I thought about Russia the other day and went "Holy shit, how can we compete against Kucherov, Vasilevsky, Panarin, Ovechkin, Malkin, Kaprizov and Svechnikov?". Then I realized no Russian d-man would make our squad, and their center group is also kind of weak beyond Malkin. You can do that with most teams.

Agree about the coach though. I still can't believe Garpenlöv got the job with zero head coach experience.

As a top 9 is great. Don't understand the forward group concerns really. We have better forwards than Finland, but slightly worse than the US, I think.
