Larsson was the only point of solidity in 2016 and was hands down the best defenseman at the worlds last year. He has a history of coming up HUGE for Sweden.

Yes it's true, last year Larsson was rock solid for the Swedes. Way more important than Ekholm.

I like, 3rd Gold is getting closer but probably tough.

Yeah but Ekholm was just thrown into a stacked D-corps last year, from that point of view I thought he did really well. On the other hand I expected Forsberg and Arvidsson to have a bigger impact but they got stuck with an uncomfortable Kempe or an inferior De La Rose on the third line.

Crazy that this tournament doesnt start in another 12 days. Plenty of time for backstrom to rest up.

Yeah, I know... him and Forsberg/Arvidsson arrived late in the tournament. Had the same feeling that Forsberg/Arvidsson couldn't really live up to their potential. In order to have their full impact and find their role on the team, players simply need to arrive before the opening game.

OEL, Ekholm and Larsson with the letters? Or OEL, Eriksson and Ekholm/Larsson. If Bäckström comes he’ll obviously have a letter though.

Right now:
Hörnqvist - Pettersson - Nylander
Lindblom - Lindholm - Bratt
Eriksson - A.Kempe - M. Kempe
X - Krüger - X

Either way four solid playmakers how you want to spread them out may be different, from what I’ve seen so far in the worlds Swedens most effective lines have for the most part had atleast two good playmakers.

I would honestly move Lindblom to the Pettersson chain and bump them down to second line. They would lack the grit but dear lord if Nylander finds his way they would be able to move the puck with Petterssons weird hockey IQ .

Sedinesque cycle game! Haven’t really seen all to much of Lindblom since the world juniors and you forget a lot in 3 years.

Marcus Pettersson added.

It just keeps getting better! Hägg is gone in the top 6 D and that's a nice relief, since everybody and their mother who've read the lineup have... been kind of concerned WTF he's doing there, from day 1. Grönborg can't play him in the top 6, he would look insane, even if he wants to. To great relief, Grönborg seems to be very pragmatic as a coach, which has been a great help to him not looking nearly as incompetent as the former colleagues. I'm very happy with Grönborg, his flaws are far smaller than his predecessors. No idiotic SHL acceptances, no baffling declines to even ask a NHL star... he's doing really fine.

I would really like to see Rönnberg coaching Sweden when Grönborg is gone. I like that guy and I think NHL players like his style as well. A Swedish, softer NHL coach kind of coach.

edit: Oh no he isn't! Goddammit how hard can it be to get rid of Hägg? And how much do I want him to prove me and everybody wrong for scolding him? Alot on both accounts.

Agree. Lindblom would be a nice fit on Pettersson's line. He's got good goal scoring instincts and can win puck battles.

The two issues I have with Grönborg is 1. Game coaching 2. His enamorement for large players that bring little else to the table other than imaginary grit and size which is rarely usefull on its own.

They did? Did not hear anything about any injuries. If they want him to sign once the ELC is gone, maybe that's not a very good strategy? But what do I know. Sure he loves losing.

Dahlin wants to go but somehow change this mind. Mostly likely Sabres says No to him.

Thing I don't understand though is that Eichel is going. Wouldn't that just really rub Dahlin the wrong way if they told him not to go?

They’re not really allowed to tell a player not to go if he wants to though.
They can advise him what to do, no?

Anyways, Panthers put forward a twitter press release where they declined Barkov's invitation, wonder if anything will come of it.

They might feel he needs to bulk up in the offseason and get some rest while at it because it was his first NHL season?

Ofcourse they can but they can not force him not to.

Maybe, but Dahlin needs a big summer in the gym. He's way behind in that department. Pretty sure that's the big reason he isn't playing.
