Hägg was Grönborg's go-to D for 1 U18 WC and two WJC's. As a 17 year old he was also, to the surprise of many, called in to replace H. Lindholm at the sochi WJC. It's obvious that Grönborg likes Hägg a lot and I would say he overused him during his junior career. Still remember my first look at 15 year old McDavid and what he did to poor Hägg.

which players from euro leagues do you guys think will make it?

no matter how many nhlers available the swedish coaches will always choose some players from euro leagues.

last year it was elias pettersson, dennis everberg, mikael wikstrand, lias andersson, magnus hellberg, filip gustavsson. the year before that it was viktor fasth, philip holm, joel eriksson ek, dennis everberg, joel lundvist, carl klingberg, linus omark.

so we can expect around 6 players from euro leagues.

i can see lasse johansson take a spot. erik gustafsson from luleå or wikstrand again. josefson, lander, rasmussen, nygård.

I want to see Omark and Hershey there.

Lasse, Lander, Nygård, Bemström, and Josefson are my guesses. Hopefully Hägg means we get 7 NHL dmen with Hägg as the 7D.

People are over reacting to some of these depth players being invited. Skilled AHL'ers such as Alexander Nylander might be productive against Austrian, France and Great Britain, but won't "outskill" anyone once we go up against Canada or Russia in the semi-finals or finals.

I mean ofcourse we’re not going to have 4th liners that will outskill Canada or Russias top 6, the problem is: I don’t really think they’ll outwork anyone either.

Victor Olofsson 60p in ahl is better than khl or shl players.

Grönborg has never selected someone from ahl though

Lineup against Norway today:

Elvenes - Lander - Sandin
Strömwall - Rasmussen - Boqvist
Zaar - Fröberg - Bristedt
Brodecki - Mastomäki - Sylvegård

Andersson - Djuse
Holm - Bengtsson
Bertilsson - Svedberg

Pessimist: - Five defenders accepted invitation. A combined -65 in goals against. What now? Oliver Ekman-Larsson and his -16?

PS: Here's who Robert Hägg (19 games) did time with during WJC's between 2012 and 2015: (two final losses and a quarter finals against Russia). It was the dudes (ZNJ, JL, RR, JB, JK and FF) in 11-12 (the year before DLR and RH) that started to be undefeated in the qualifications.

Jacob de la Rose (LW/C) 19 games
Lucas Wallmark (C), Axel Holmström (C/LW), Robin Norell (D) 14
Sebastian Collberg (RW/LW), Filip Forsberg (LW/RW), Alexander Wennberg (C), Christian Djoos (D), Filip Sandberg (RW/C), Nick Sörensen (RW), Linus Arnesson (D), Anton Karlsson (W/C) 12, Elias Lindholm (C/RW) 11
André Burakovsky (LW/RW), Andreas Johnsson (LW/RW), Gustav Olofsson (D), Lukas Bengtsson (D), Erik Karlsson (C/LW), Oskar Sundqvist (C), William Nylander (RW), Oskar Lindblom (LW), Gustav Forsling (D), Sebastian Aho (D), Jens Lööke (RW/LW), Anton Blidh (LW/RW), Christoffer Ehn (C/LW), Victor Olofsson (LW/RW), William Lagesson (D), Julius Bergman (D), Andreas Englund (D), Leon Bristedt (LW/C) 7
Jesper Pettersson (D), Adrian Kempe (C/W), Adam Brodecki (LW/RW) 6
Emil Molin (C/LW), Rickard Rakell (LW), Viktor Arvidsson (LW/RW), Victor Rask (C), Mikael Wikstrand (D), Emil Djuse (D), William Karlsson (C), Tom Nilsson (D), Jeremy Boyce (C/LW) 5, Rasmus Bengtsson (D) 3

+/- means jack-shit. Hell yeah I'd take OEL and "his" -16.

Mästomäki, Strömwall, Sandin, Rasmussen, & Zaar scored in a 5-1 game against Norway.

52SOG, Norway got 15 SOG.
