He is not even playing PK. Björninen-Anttila and Lammikko-Mäenalanen are the two main units.

On the powerplay pretty much anybody could play as the netfront guy instead of Sallinen

You are right. Sallinen however has managed to get something done in the offensive end in this tournament so far so I don't think that Jalonen will replace him. I'm all right with gold finger'ss decision for now. I did expect Sallinen to be worse offensively than he has been.

I think that Innala secured his spot over Rajala after today's game.

I would put Olkinuora in the net against Sweden.

Funny and unrealistic thought, so don't kill me for it.

IIHF rules:
"Players can be added throughout the tournament until the roster is full."

New plan for Lehtinen & Jalonen. Don't stamp anyone and get one of Rantanen, Barkov or Aho straight to medal games. It could be done if no injuries or game suspensions wouldn't happen. Mäenalanen should be reading this. He wants to get suspended so badly.

Defenders look good and Heiskanen is coming to strenghten that, so there is no need to do changes there unless injuries would happen.

If any series would end 4-0 on NHL playoffs round 2. There would be 5-6 days for that person before the gold game to arrive. It is quite unlikely that any of our superstars would lose their series like that though.

But to be serious, I'd love to get Haula or one of Määttä, Lindell or Hakanpää, but nobody else. If the players stay healthy, no need to stamp Nurmi. I'm guessing that Nurmi will get the stamp though, because it's been so silent after the Heiskanen annoucement and the fact that no other Dallas player was announced to join at the same time as him.

Meh I see your point but they definitely won't wait for just a few games since we don't necessarily even get to medal games. They'll register the last player within the next two days imo.

Nice dream though

Well. It looks like that final add won't be Haula. Because according to Satakunnan Kansa, Jalonen and co aren't even interested.

Well that's surprising that they aren't interested. I wonder what their thought process for that is? Something like "Taylor Hall" carried him maybe?

My logic says that it's not a Dallas player, because they would've announced him along with Heiskanen. Perhaps not Määttä because LA got eliminated one day before Boston, so they would've already asked Määttä at this point.

I'm going to say it's Kapanen or Nurmi. Kapanen's Pittsburgh got eliminated on the same day as Dallas did. Pittsburgh's doctor needs to check on Kapanen first or something? Jalonen remembers who scored the 2016 U20 final's OT goal. Jalonen: "We need players who help us win". Kapanen literally did help them win gold and in a home tournament as well. He's happy with our center situation. We got plenty of players who are now playing wing who could also play center. If he wanted a top-6 center he would just put Granlund on that position. Kapanen is a real winger so maybe those are the reasons why they would go for him.

Joker cards: Jokiharju, Lepistö.

Super joker card: Laine had enough time to heal up his injury.

Probably not considered a star despite his hot streak, and not a familiar. So not *that* surprising, actually, knowing Jalonen's MO. Team cohesion is everything to him, so he could be iffy about integrating a player he hasn't coached before mid-tournament.

Alternate, albeit somewhat more unlikely explanation: they're angling for Kapanen instead.

Yes I just edited my post and I came to the same conclusion that it's Kapanen instead. I mentioned the reasons in that previous post. It's a good point that if he never actually coached Haula before. That kind of stuff sometimes matters for Jalonen unless it's real superstar kind of player.

I just hope Jalonen isn't boring and that he would just register Nurmi. Nurmi didn't show anything special in those EHT games.

Probably won't have to wait long to get, if not the full story, at least some kind of light on their plans. Since the story about Haula broke, there's gotta be some reporter or other trying to reach Jalonen/Lehtinen for a comment.

You got too much faith on these reporters. These reporters didn't even ask a single question about Markus Granlund's situation back then when we were still considering him as a possibility.

I really think that it's Kapanen, but one more possibility or plan would be this. Jalonen is quite happy with our forwards and defenders at the moment and they are checking if someone gets injured during the Sweden game. Based on that they will register the final slot, for either for a forward in Nurmi and as suggested Tyrväinen doesn't sound completely impossible being a Jalonen familiar. They register Lepistö/Jokiharju if they want/need a defender.

Jokiharju won't be on the team. He is already out and I seriously doubt and we don't need a D. And they are not lookinh at Sweden (per Lehtinen) so it must be Nirmi or someone from the NHL.

Like how many times they need to make it clear? There is literally and interview ehere Lehtinen says that last spot will not be filled with anyone from Sweden.

Smells like Finnish gold brewing.

Keep in mind that Finland never even medaled in a home tournament before, but our coach is the best coach in the tournament, not to forget his coaching staff either. They form the strongest coaching staff in the tournament so we'll see.

Finland's odds of winning gold would certainly drop if Finland screwes up and gets one of Canada or Switzerland as their QF opponent. That would be a much harder path to the gold having to beat one extra gold favorite.

Don't be too sure. I said joker card. As in I don't think so either, but there's a small possibility. Kapanen is my guess.

Because you say so? My guess is it's Kapanen 60%. I give Jokiharju maybe a 3%.
I"ll say its Nurmi 70%. I would bet my life for Jokiharju not being an option but that seems too harsh but I still give it 0 chance.

I don't see why they would be adding a player again who already left. Who knows if he is even if Finland anymore.

Just funny how we even spend so much thought on my joker card idea. We both agree that's it's a small chance to almost no chance in your opinion. You think it's almost impossible and I don't think it's impossible.

You like to be optimistic with the almost crazy ideas and I try to stay realistic I guess.

This doesn't exactly help with the speculation.

With me you got to separate what I think I find realistic or what Jalonen would do vs the 1% or under scenarios. I like to remind people of the possibilities, even if they are small.

On another topic, that Dahlin vs Heiskanen poll got pretty popular and I'm little bit surprised about that. I don't think all those 150 people who voted for Heiskanen are Finns... Let's not turn this to a Dahlin thread again though, but I'm just saying...

That's actually an indirect admission that they're still angling for someone from overseas. Because, let's not forget, if Nurmi is the only option left, there are no bureaucratic hurdles involving him. They can register him any time they like and that's it.
