Innala played well but so did Rajala. If it's between them who would've been the 13th forward tomorrow when Granny joins, I would've said that Jalonen would've most likely put Innala as the 13th forward, but if Mäenalanen can't play tomorrow because he fought and maybe got a game suspension for that, then Innala will be back in. The fun thing about Pesonen is that he can play in any line and he pretty much always does well in what ever line he is in. I doubt that Lammikko got a suspension for fighting as well or did he (or rather will he)?

Granny Smith Apples – Sakari Manninen – Teemu Hartikainen
Innala – Valtteri Filppula – Joel Armia
Toni Rajala – Juho Lammikko – Jere Sallinen
Harri Pesonen – Hannes Björninen – Marko Anttila

We will know what happens with Dallas when we wake up..

Indeed. It would be nice to get the last players who are not on WHC roster on the plane already, so we get to use them for more and longer.

If Dallas wins and Florida loses these G6 games, then it's all open again regarding any Finnish superstars in those teams and also Carolina. In fact Carolina could be eliminated 1 day earlier than Dallas and Florida in that case. That would be an interesting situation.

Yeah doesn't help Carolina plays game 7 late tomorrow. So I think they just ask rhe Dallas guys tbh and get them here.

No I meant that Dallas survives tonight. Then it's 3-3. So Carolina would actually play their G7 before Dallas.

Oi, Finland boys I work at night - so I can probably watch those games "live" ... if it's an soft night at work for me that is.

Is there much of a Finnish-Norwegian rivalry? Curious from an outsider, didn’t expect to see a fight today :eek3:
No.

Not in hockey anyway ...

I got a feeling that if Hintz + Heiskanen would be the ones coming, then Jalonen would prefer to put a late arriving Hintz on the wing. I'd personally prefer to have Hintz as a center, but I think that Jalonen would put him on the wing.

Granny – Sakari Manninen – Teemu Hartikainen
Roope Hintz – Valtteri Filppula – Joel Armia
Harri Pesonen – Juho Lammikko – Jere Sallinen
Saku Mäenalanen – Hannes Björninen – Marko Anttila

If Jalonen isn't fully happy with Granny in Manninnen + Hartikainen line, then Pesonen can be returned to their wing. I think this is a gold line up right here, below. Heiskanen would be here as well:

Pesonen – Sakari Manninen – Teemu Hartikainen
Roope HintzGranlund – Joel Armia
Filppula – Juho Lammikko – Jere Sallinen
Saku Mäenalanen – Hannes Björninen – Marko Anttila

Filppula being part of the PK unit perhaps would remove the need for Sallinen and Sallinen could potentially be replaced by Rajala or Innala, but maybe that's not Jalonen's style to start practising PK all over with a new guy, when the tournament has been already going for a while at that point. It would also work to swap Armia's and Filppula's places between them and have Armia on the PK, because he did a lot of that during the season if I remember right.

Rajala was the best of the Finland lot this evening.

I don't know about that. He was rather invisible for a long time but overall he was good. That was a great individual effort goal. Maybe the best was Hartikainen. I liked Lammikko's effort as well.

I mean I would definitely trust Eye of Ra over this Jalonen guy :D

Well you have to admit that Eye Of Ra was so right the last time regarding the World Championships - swedes did not make it even to the QF.

Yes, I know it's even harder this year to be outside of the quarterfinals for the swedes, but not impossible...

btw this Lidl POS armband attached to the world's most beautiful Northern Estonia / Winland jerseys needs to be ripped off these jerseys ASAP !!

So Barkov, Lundell, Lindbohm are continuing in Stanly Cup run and out of Team Finland dreams.

Hintz, Heiskanen & Co will wait their faith till Sunday.

Kakko too.

Aho & Teräväinen or Haula know tonight. As do Puljujärvi and Määttä/Kupari.

Heh, nothing going for this team's way tonight. Florida advances (for which I'm actually happy), and Dallas forces Game 7.

Oh well, that CAR-BOS pair will drop a forward no matter what. If Haula is interested, I'd take him. Should be a clear upgrade over Sallinen, at least. (And exactly in whose place I'd put Haula in the present lineup.)

Would be ironic, and a good lesson in tempering one's expectations. After all these wet dreams about a team stacked with NHLers, the final haul ends up being Haula + some SHL d-man. Haaveet kaaaatuuuu...

But let's not get ahead of ourselves. There is still a chance of getting a nice package from Dallas.

Määttä+Aho could be the package after tomorrow. That would be the best case scenario for the next round of games. Aho+TT+Määttä if they hadn't registered 20/22 non goalies already.

It is interesting to see if they would actually wait and see what happens in Dallas G7, one day after Carolina and Boston play their series. It would be a really crazy gamble by Jalonen to take both Aho and TT and run the entire tournament with 7 defenders registered, but damn would our offensive lines look good after that.

So here's my guess in a scenario where Carolina + Los Angeles will be eliminated tomorrow and the outcome of CGY vs DAL would still be unknown at that point. They would simply ask Aho, because he is the best forward remaining in the NHL playoffs. So I think that's a no brainer and Hintz would have to say bye bye to his home tournament. They wouldn't ask Määttä yet. They would wait 1 day and see if Heiskanen would be out instead.

Oilers is the home team against Los Angeles, so that's good. We know how crazy those fans of Edmonton are so maybe the players get boost of that crowd.

Carolina's home game against Boston. Crazy fans there as well but I see this one as more of a coinflip. Boston has more deep playoff run experience. They've been quite dependant of Marchand's point production and he has to once again have a good game in order to pull this off. Hampus Lindholm came back few days ago for Boston so that was a good thing. Hopefully Raanta doesn't have his best day on the net.

I'd take Aho+TT if there was room for both (which there probably won't be), but between Aho and Hintz, I might actually prefer the latter. Aho is the slightly better player overall, but Hintz, I feel, has more of those things this lineup is more in need of. We already have MiG, Manninen, Filppula, Rajala and Innala to provide what Aho would provide - though Aho would, of course, be an upgrade over all of 'em.

Whereas in Hintz's case we have Hartikainen and Armia with comparable skillsets - and, again, Hintz would be a filthy rich man's version of both.

This is still not 100% confirmed but according to the team Sweden thread, Sweden is apparently actually going to use only 9 forwards against Austria. That might backfire and it might even show in the game of Finland vs Sweden by Sweden not looking ready. I wanted Jalonen to do little bit more of gambling but maybe not that extreme version of it.

Good for Finland when thinking of group standings. Maybe Sweden will end up getting Canada or Switzerland in the game of death, because those two will obviously be the top-2 of group A. Sweden could be #3 or #4 in the group B, because of this gamble.

At the same time it's quite scary that Sweden has good defenders and if they get some star caliber forwards coming as well. Sweden could be a problem later on in the tournament if this gamble pays off.

Game plan for Austria would be to be physical with Sweden. Fight if they have to and if some Swedes happen to get injuries or ejected from the game, Swedes will have to play with 7-8 forwards or perhaps use some of their D-men as forwards.

Aho may be injured because of that hit by McAvoy so idk if he would come even if Carolina loses.

TT would be fine as well. They really could just ask TT before waiting for Dallas' (Hintz) game's result. I wouldn't mind at all. I see TT as about same level as Hintz anyways.

Yeah TT would be nic3

I actually just made a poll about the Hintz vs Teräväinen thing. I think it's a very close thing, but maybe the people on the forum will vote Hintz because he's more flashy offensively, while Teuvo is better all rounded. TT is kinda flashy too sometimes, but I think that Hintz sticks to people's minds better and more. Also the fact that he plays with Pavelski who is a really famous player so that perhaps made people notice Hintz more.

It wouldn't surprise me if Jalonen sees TT more as a winner than Hintz, but both are very good. Jalonen said it himself that basically his main criteria for inviting players from the NHL late is if they can help the team win.

Now that Dallas and Raleigh went on game 7 i'm not sure which is better Hintz/Heiskanen or Aho/Teräväinen.

Hopefully one will lose. I wan't Florida to go far.

Better for this team is definitely Hintz+Heiskanen because it would be quite risky to not register one more defender.

It can be a combo of Aho+Heiskanen that we are getting as well or even TT+Heiskanen. I explained it why I think so in my other post on this page. Aho+Määttä, TT+Määttä are very possible as well. At least going into tonight's game before Carolina has won that G7, I'll think that way.

Actually I'm going to say it right now. We won't get Hintz if Carolina is out tonight and I don't mind at all, because both Aho & TT are beasts.
