It's an o.k roster, would have liked a few more notable adds on defense, goalies.........oh dear.

Well, nothing to stop them from playing well for one tournament, you never know with goalies.

So K. Johnson is in also .. good .. i think this team can play beautifull hockey
Not sure about how beautiful, but effective.

A very good team. Well mixed and balanced, pretty physical. Clear gold medal contender. Regardless of whether they use the last free spot on the roster or let it be with 24 guys on the team, I like this on paper. There are many talented youngsters combined with a few veterans, some guys in the age between. Creative players together with typical bottom 6 grinders. Enthusiasm, experience, speed, skill, physicality, everything should be there. I would especially stress the physicality. Most of the players are really strong and gritty, hard to outmuscle. Goaltending might be the only minor issue but still - the gold medal contender no.1.

Not bad, as always it will depend on how well they gel. I'm looking forward to seeing several of the young guys in prominent roles.

I like the balance. Sometimes it works out better playing 3rd/4th liners accustomed to the role. If you ask someone to play ~10 mins of high energy shut-down shifts and you have guys that do that for their clubs teams, are accustomed to it, good at it, you know what to expect.

Exactly my opinion. When you put a 1st liner into the 4th line and ask him to play 8-12 min at max intensity, chase the puck up and down, check hard etc, it often doesn't work. Even when the player is a team worker and accepts such role, he often has problems to accomplish the task because that's not how he is used to play. And, obviously, you can't have 4 super creative lines when playing strong opponents, that never works.

Absolutely. Regardless if Canada wins Gold or not, this tournament provides great experience for several of the young guys, which can pay off in future years when it comes to selecting players for the Olympics/World Cup.

I think that's a good, strong international roster.
- i think this is the first time when team Canada,
builds a team thinking about a short tournament,
international tournament

Doesn't have star players, but loads of important players
who can do everything and play any role.

Well built roster.

I think this is straight from Jukka Jalonen's play book,
damn....the rest of the countries finally catching up on us :(

Maybe duchene could join ? He loves to play for Canada
Roster now is 14F and 7D so the last addition would likely be D. My guess is Fabbro or Carrier.

Dubois - Barzal - Batherson
Johnson - Sillinger - Mercer
Comtois - Cozens - Anderson
Lowry - Roy - Geekie
Gregor, O'Dell

Chabot - Severson
Sanheim - Fabbro/Carrier
Graves - Whitecloud
Holden, Mayo

Driedger
Thompson
Tomkins

Looks like Canada got a lot of polite passes from some players they asked

On paper it's stronger than the 2021 gold team. The only thing weaker I'd say is the goaltending. Lots of Manitoban born and based players too!

Do you think Bedard was considered? I mean if it’s between him and O’dell. I’m taking the former to give him the experience

He's a tremendously talented kid but maybe men's hockey wouldn't be quite for him yet? Players are on a different level when it comes to physical strength. The risk he might suffer an injury would perhaps be bigger than the advantage the experience would give him for his development.

In a pre-tournament tuneup game, Team Canada beat the Republic of Gilead opps, I mean Team USA (for now) 4-3 (SO).
goals for Canada - Cozens, Silinger and Anderson.

PLD and Cozens scored in the SO.

Under His Eye.
Did you watch this match? Any information about line ups and PP units?

I did not. busy with work ...and don't think there was a broadcast. just kept an eye on Hockey Canada twitter feed for updates. I'll make time to watch once the elimination games on the sched.

In spite of the waves of declines the beauty of the Canadian team is that any knocked out PO team will have a meaningfully useful reinforcement. There is some chance 5 teams' pool of players are available by tomorrow, and Canada supposedly (if all listed above are registered) only has space for one, and it's likely a D. My guess is someone will come on board by the weekend and it'll be finalized then.

I think you need to decide on what is important in your life, set your priorities if you will. There is no work that is more important than hockey lol.

Enjoy the WC!

Mc David, Smith and Nurse should be available soon. :(
I like Nurse but until he can gain control of his darker impulses he needs to be given a pass.

I dont think McDavid has ever turned down an invite to the World Championships yet (Whenever he has been both available and uninjured).
Not so sure this time. If the Oilers give this series away he should just stay home and stay healthy.
