It looks to me like they are just going completely with experience. I haven't seen a young, new, player yet like Spezza or Staal that most definitely deserved to be selected.

Nash, Doan, and Draper do not deserve to go before many others (several reasons: current output, injury, etc.).

David

Um....Nash is only 21, dominated at the World Championships, was considered the best forward at the camp in August, has 2 goals in 2 games and still doesn't have his game legs yet. I think he deserves it.

The jerseys those kids are wearing are not the actual jersey numbers the players will be wearing at the Olympics. They were just wearing Canada jerseys with their current NHL jersey numbers.

Spezza and Staal were added to the alternates. Looks to me that someone didn't have the balls to put them on the actual team like they have earned.

David

In 2002, Redden and Thornton didn't make the Olympic team, but they earned it.

Staal and Spezza will get their chance. They are still young, and if an injury goes down, they have the top priority.

I would have taken Boyle over McCabe, personally.

Hmmm, Sakic is wearing 19.....? :dunno:

So were Brad Richards and Joe Thornton, they just gave them their name and orginal numbers on the team canada jersey. They won't be wearing that # when the olympics come around.

Interesting stat:

Only four teams are sending two players to TC, and they all reside in the NW.

Vancouver: Bertuzzi, Jovonovski
Calgary: Iginla, Regher
Colorado: Sakic, Blake
Edmonton: Smyth, Pronger
