McDavid - MacKinnon - Stone
Marchand - Crosby - Bergeron
Huberdeau - Point - Stamkos
Tavares - O'Reilly - Marner
(Couturier)

Toews - Makar
Weegar - Ekblad
Pelech - Hamilton
(Theodore)

Fleury
Binnington

Relying on Fleury to be the #1 guy in a sudden elimination tournament scares me.

I like the "pen" forwards and I like the defencemen other than Rielly.
I honestly don't know why people are so sour on Rielly. His numbers are great. He's the number one dman on one of the better defence in the league. Plays pp and pk. Currently top 10 in d scoring. He's left-handed. Sure he's a Leaf but he has pretty good chance of making the team if we consider facts over opinions.

Ah the joys of having Toronto players in contention for spots. Fans desperate to boost players from their own team while crying persecution.

No one cares that he's on Toronto other than Toronto fans. I think that there are better options, as in players who bring elements that the team needs from its defencemen, though I agree that he has a fairly good chance of making the team. A lot of the realistic options haven't impressed this year s that boosts his odds. It's good that he's scoring while Toronto is red hot though his defence is more my focus, and thanks in advance to whatever Leaf fan throws cherry picked data at me that I'm going to ignore. If Rielly makes the team and plays well then nearly every fan in this thread will be pleased.

Ah the joys of having posters group an entire fanbase in with their disagreement with literally one post. Never gets old.

For me Reilly should be in the Darnell Nurse category of ABSOLUTELY NOT. Loose with the puck and is lazy tracking back from the corner to the front of the net in his own zone. With all the offensive-defenders that Canada has that are better than him, for me Toews, Pelech, Theodore, and Pietrangelo moved over are much better options than Morgan Reilly. At this point I would even have Chabot ahead of him, and even Bryam prior to his disastrous showing in Toronto on Wednesday

Well, Darnell Nurse isn’t even in that category, as he’s certainly in contention for a spot.

It took some impressive reading skills to arrive at that conclusion. But yes everyone is set against Toronto players and Toronto fans, never forget. And for certain it's only been one post of excessive boosting of a Toronto player that I was referencing.

I wouldn't put either of them as an absolute no. Each of them has defensive lapses that you hate to see but they are both at least good puck movers and strong physically. Rielly seems to be playing better than Nurse is this year, which is important. I'd rather a more stable option for the left side though. There's Theodore and Pelech and then... I guess we'll have to wait and see. I do think that Hockey Canada will give long looks to Nurse and Rielly.

Devon Toews so far this year:

Points/60: 2.64 (1st among all LHD in the NHL)

5v5 xGF%: 62.32
5v5 xGF% REL: (+15.47)

5v5 GF%: 72.17
5v5 xGF% REL: (+23.88)

Small sample size but he's looking good.

McDavid - MacKinnon - Stone
Marchand - Crosby - Bergeron
Huberdeau - Point - Stamkos
Tavares - O'Reilly - Marner
(Couturier)]

These are the first 13 forwards for me too at this point, with only one spot left for whoever steps up and takes it.

It's not really boasting. I don't really care if Rielly makes the team or not. Tbh I would've preferred that convincingly he'd not make it because that would mean we actually have defencemen clearly viewed as better than him in every metric.

It's just that based off what I've seen from Canada's "perceived" defence, which tbh other than Pietrangelo I'm not all that impressed with in it's entirety defensively, Rielly has as good a shot as any to be on the team. With people's personal preference being the only real decision maker. It is what it is. But its not a big deal.

Fair enough. I do think that Rielly is still a contender, though he isn't my preference at the moment. The media talks him up in projections but he's rarely on teams in these threads. His chances are probably somewhere in between those extremes but maybe trending upward. I wouldn't be surprised if two out of Rielly, Nurse, and Toews made the team.

Adam Pelech says hi. And yes, pelech gets selected over reilly. If not convinced, take a look at past Olympic men’s best on best team Canada rosters. Elite defensive d men do not get left off.
Jesus Christ dude, we get it. You want Pelech on the team. Have any other opinions?

Why on earth would you take both Theodore and Pietrangelo and then not play them together? Just....what

Why? They don’t play together regularly, and haven’t been anything special in the minutes they have played together. I don’t see any issue with them apart, but I wouldn’t put Theodore with Makar

you are seriously kidding yourself if you think Rielly won't be there

the list of LHSD is limited

It’s really not though. Theodore, Weegar, Nurse, Pelech, Toews, and Chabot all have arguments to be ahead, and some guys on the right could move over. There’s far more chance he’s not on the team than he is at this point.
