From Friedman:

I like the Crosby-McDavid combo idea more than going back to Crosby with Bergeron and Marchand.

McDavid needs to play with guys who can make great one touch plays, who don't need to carry it long. That's Crosby. I'm debating Huberdeau and Stone for their other wing.

Crosby - McDavid - Stone
Huberdeau - Mackinnon - Marner
Marchand - Bergeron - Point
O'Reilly - Couturier - Barzal

Makes sense. Seems strange to me that people are pencilling in 36yr old Bergeron not just onto the team but onto a top line.

Also makes sense to me to possibly let guys like McDavid and MacKinnon play wing, and put the guys who have proven themselves defensively at C on cup winners at the center spot (Crosby, point, O'Reilly, bergeron). If McDavid and Crosby are on the same line it's almost certainly sid taking the C duties.

That's why I don't think Suzuki makes it. I don't think he beats out Barzal as a young guy extra, nor do I think he beats out whichever of Tavares/Stamkos make it as the "veteran" extra.

Honestly, he doesn't beat out Gourde either between the 2 - tons of people are high on this guy after the playoffs and Suzuki isn't making it in the top-6 even with a pile of injuries. Neither are in serious discussion but Gourde's utility is more geared towards a shutdown energy role which is less competitive than a scoring role. Oh and Jon Cooper is the coach.

Crosby isn't playing wing and neither is McDavid . Friedman is nothing but attention seeking by suggesting Crosby playing the wing.
Marchand , Crosby, Bergeron will not only be a line for team Canada they might be the best line.

Stamkos- McDavid - Marner
Marchand - Crosby - Bergeron
Hubs - MacKinnon - Point
Barzal - Couts/Ror - Stone
Ror/Couts

I am not seeing any love here for Stamkos. Tons of playmakers on this team. He is a finisher. I think with Marner and McDavid, Stammer will be the perfect goal scoring companion.

I also don't think of this team as having 1st line etc. All four lines will clock in at roughly the same ice time.

If we take a 14th forward...my homer pick is Suzuki. Really want to see that kid explode this year.

Yeah I’m à Montréal supporter as well but unfortunately the centre depth is just too deep to accommodate Suzuki, maybe in Milan

Schedule is available, Canada plays Germany first, followed by the USA, followed by China

Its probably because he's not that great anymore

Thanks.

That's the one downside of the Olympics being held in a completely different timezone than North America. A lot of the events I want to watch end up being at awkward times.
Meanwhile, me living here in England is very happy about the schedule…. But I could see back home how it is a bit ridiculous. On a side note, does anyone know how long the players will be in China before they play there first game? Having done the trip myself your body feels absolutely terrible the first 48 hours so I hope they have some time to adjust

Not really. He was invisible outside of the PP
I've never been a fan Stamkos - Gold Standard and I have battled over S.S.'s inclusion in the past. Still, he exceeded my expectations in last years playoffs. He also provides...

Goal scoring,
PP efficiency,
Faceoff prowess : 57.21% last year

For that reason, I'd take him over Marner - the 13th or 14th forward.
