He’s been a horse this year just like he was last year, he’s a good hockey player and can play in all situations.

He can skate, move the puck, is physical and add good size to the roster which you still need some big physical guys out there especially on NA sized ice.
I have no idea why I lack confidence in Nurse.

Yikes!!! I just looked at his stats. What the heck happened?
I’m not even talking about offensive play or the fact he has a terrible team around him, things that can he control himself such as tracking men in front of the net or getting caught out at wall in his own zone he has not been satisfactory; unfortunate from a player I had in the top 4 last year

Only 4 months to g0.....

Me neither, he does a lot right. Nurse is a very good hockey player who has gotten better and better every year.

His PK ability, size, skating, and physicality are huge for what our D core needs. We don’t have an overly physical D core and the game is on NA sized ice.

I could see him and Makar being absolutely dynamic together.

I've watched some Edmonton this year and liked what I've seen of Nurse so far. As long as he's skating and defending well there are plenty of configurations of the defence in which he could fit nicely. If Nurse and Ekblad are on the team the defence should have some decent size. Pietrangelo has size as well and if Parayko makes it that's another huge defenceman.

You've convinced me.

My issue with him is plays like you saw at the end of the first period against Philadelphia or on Pettersson’s goal in the first game of the year, he is prone to costly mistakes

When I watch, he does something that worries me.

He also looks kinda scrawny to me - but at 6'4" 221 lbs, he's no wimp. I think it's his neck.

Nurse with a couple giveaways in his own zone in tonight's 3rd period. :(

Edit : And now a unnecessary crosscheck penalty with 3 minutes left in a close game.

People play bad games it happens to everyone during a 82 games season. Doesn't mean it going to happen at a key moment in the 3rd period in a elimination game

Who is our goalie? Can’t win without a goalie playing great. Too many elite skilled shooters. Imo goalie will be key to which team wins gold.

Binnington if he needs to win one game is good, apart from that they’re all relatively bang average

Average goaltenders can look very good behind an elite team. That's basically what Canada has to be hoping for, a goaltender who won't give a game away if his team outplays the opposition.

It’ll be interesting to see Nurse on team Canada where he’ll be playing literally less than half of his NHL ATOI. He is one of the biggest minute eaters in the league and it will be interesting to see if he can dial it up a few notches with less ice time or if he will struggle to keep his legs/head in the game.

To be honest in world championships where he didn’t have to play 25 mins a game I still wasn’t that impressed

Nurse took that penalty because it's game seven of the regular season and he just got slewfooted/tripped up/tangled with a player on a dirty play. Came right back at him and tried to chop his arm off. They play each other a bunch more times and it's a Canadian rivalry. Nothing game, and we can afford to stop people from taking liberties on our team.

I think he has the wherewithal to not take a penalty like that in a medal game at the Olympics. He showed great resolve in the playoffs last year logging 30 minutes a game. 60+ minutes in one of the games by the way.

The penalty he took there is fine. Don't let people mess with you out there in a meaningless game. I wish he cross checked him even harder and took the fine.

I was so disappointed with Nurse even two years ago. Last year he took a huge step and is now an obvious #1 guy. He would slot in well on the Olympic roster. He plays some of the highest minutes in the league and now that he's paired with an offensive minded guy in Bouchard, he has settled down in his role and is playing real well.

Not as offensively dynamic as Pronger, but no slouch and he is clearly trying to make himself as mean. Not sure if that's possible though, lol.

Agree Players are more under control when the stakes are high like the Olympics or Stanley Cup playoffs /Do or die game, then game 7 of 82 regular season. Even Theron Fleury was under control in the 2002 Olympics lol.
