On another note... with the start they are having in terms of team success, is Team Canada tempted to take Weeger + Ekblad wholesale as a pairing?

I think they'd use Crosby for that with all the cake he's got going on back there. Thirst trap.

LOL. Tavares is no slouch either. I saw Crosby and Tavares getting out of a cab together in Ottawa 5 years (2016 World Cup training camp). I honestly don't know how they managed to fit in the backseat together.

When you going to put out your newest team?

(* Unless I recently missed it. *)

You haven't missed it. I was going to do it this past weekend, but decided to give it another week 3-4 games...so, bright and early Saturday morning with my pot of French Press.

LOL! I'm looking forward to you Marner-less team. :)

"French Press"????

Use the beautiful invention known as the google machine. it's got images and everything. Not a coffee drinker, I take it?
The number of coffees I've had in my life, you could count on one hand - and have fingers to spare. :)

Enjoy your coffee and I look forward to your team.

I can't believe I'm starting to side with @ORRFForever here, but Marner's performance thus far isn't doing him any favors. If he did have a spot heading into the season, he's certainly doing his best to play himself off the team.

Oh, and anyone who thinks Tavares should be on the club should also watch Leaf games. He's also a non-factor way too often. And he's slow as molasses out there.

Tavares should be on the team, absolutely. Marner should not.

He played an insane amount and had no support on team filled with rookies and sophomores.

Like Karlsson, he’s much more effective at even strength than on the PP where his mobility is more of an asset.

Besides, who cares how he played last year?

That kind of thinking is what led to Gretzky assigning spots to guys who were playing poorly in 2006.

There wasn't a season the year before Torino.

Nurse has been really good to start the year. Leading the league in ice time and hits, he's become an excellent hockey player. Full credit to his work ethic to continue to improve his game, he has an outstanding work ethic on and off the ice which has no doubt had led to the growth and improvements year over year in his game.

He's paired with Bouchard now as Barrie has been a bit of a tire fire defensively early on. Nurse-Bouchard have looked solid together.

I think Nurse not only will be on Team Canada, but likely in a top 4 pairing role and on PK1.

I could see him paired with a good puck mover like Makar and them being absolutely dynamic all over the ice, that would arguably be the best skating D pair for any team at the Olympics.

Which is why Gretzky holding spots for players like Bertuzzi prior to the 2005-2006 season made even less sense when they ended up being outperformed that season.

Right, but that doesn't speak to going by a player's history this year.

I don't see how Nurse could be even close lol.

Doughty is apparently out for approximately 8 weeks. That timeframe doesn't give him a ton of games prior to team selection in January.

Sucks about Doughty. That’s a guy you probably take a risk on him being healthy, especially if we can take 8 d-man on the roster.

Everyone here is trashing Marner, I think he’s looked amazing. He’s has some bad results, but not because of lack of skill or hockey sense. Sometimes you just get some bad results when there are many sets of data to evaluate. But every shift he’s clearly the most skilled player on the ice and major creator of high chance opportunities.

Goaltending could be scary..

Nurse shouldn't be nowhere near close being named in Top 6 for a Team Canada.

Makar, Pietrangelo, Ekblad, Chabot, Doughty, Theodore, Hamilton.

These guys should be selected.

I thought the same thing when Philly scored with less than 1 second left in the 1st - he can't let that happen.

He likely wouldn't even be a thought for Canada's B team
