That's pretty obvious
Should be a fine, setting up a suspension at future occurrences

Marchand got a pretty good lick on JT in the first period of this game. Tavares was obviously looking to get back at him

So it was retaliatory?

I watched that play a bunch of times. That is without a doubt a slewfoot. It is kind of a textbook slewfoot. Without a doubt it should have been a penalty.

I watched that play a bunch of times as well. Could have been a slewfoot, could have been a trip. I don't think it's "textbook" anything. But it did deserve 2 minutes.

On the flip side, if that was Marchand doing the trip/slewing and Tavares doing the diving, I'm sure a good number of Bruins fans (and Jack Edwards) would be screaming DIVE GET UP! to Tavares.

I also find Marchand's antics immediately after getting up to be rather shady. Can't tell for sure if he purposely knees a downed opponent (ala Neal) or if it's just a body in front of him that he can't avoid, but it does look a little suspicious.

2 minutes each for tripping/embellishing. No fine, no suspension. Not much more than that.

If you take someone's skates out with your skates it is a slewfoot and a pretty textbook one at that. That isn't a trip and I am not saying he should be suspended but it was a penalty. Absolutely textbook.

I pretty much disagree with your entire post. I have heard Edwards say a Bruin got away with a penalty lots of times. He would say what he thought and if he was wrong he would correct himself later.

So just to be clear, you don't see any embellishing and you don't see Marchand kneeing a downed player?

And you didn't hear Edwards yell "GET UP" to a player and accuse him of diving, even though said player was actually hit (cleanly, but still hit)?

Let me get this clear, you are saying it wasn't a slewfoot? It doesn't matter what the rules say?

I'm disappointed in you. It took you 4 whole pages before you turned a penalty discussion into an attempt to put down bruins fans to make yourself look like Mr. Objective fan. You're never going to get invited to the mainboard steak dinner like that.

Probably revenge for the last Isles/Bruins game when Marchand fell on top of Tavares and then proceeded to literally wash JT's face into the ice while the refs weren't looking.

Tavares was frustrated all game by the Bruins and kept taking cheap shots. Took a cheap swing at Mason's glove the other night too. Looks like he may be another superstar that gets rattled easily

Im pretty sure about 90% of hfboards thought they either misread the thread title or thought the OP got it mixed up, lol looked like a dive to me....no call on the play because of his rep.

I think you are correct. Marchand doesn't get the benefit of the doubt and he shouldn't but looking back at that play it definitely was a penalty.
