FWIW:
Why stop there?I mean… if we wanna go all in, this is the team as it stands today without any of the other irons in the fire becoming anything:
Tarasenko - Aho - Jarvis
Svech - KK - Necas
Bunting - Drury - TT
Martinook - Staal - Fast
Noesen
Slavin - Burns
Skjei - Pesce
Orlov - Chatfield
TDA
Like… idk guys. That’s a President’s Trophy type of roster.
(Mix around the lines as you wish, I know Tarasenko’s typically an off-side RW but idk if that’s Rod’s preference. Someone will have to do it though.)
Exactly my friend. We still can get EK and Lindholm....
Since I brought up Pettersson, that's relevant to my point recently about how if we get Karlsson (one of the most famous and best Swedish hockey players of all time), that on top of having another Swede with Fast, could make Carolina even more appealing to him if he wants out of Vancouver.I'd guess it's probably worth quite a bit with respect to Tank's decision. Never had a clue that signing Orlov might bring a potential benefit like this one.
FWIW:
I would do Bunting-Staal-Fast on 3rd line and Martinook-Drury-TT on 4th. If they even keep Tuevo. I could see Tuevo, Szjei and perhaps Drury being traded for a top power forward/2-way scoring forward. Why stop there?
Exactly my friend.
Maybe we wait until the trade deadline though for a big trade and pursue Elias Pettersson if he requests a trade/doesn't want to re-sign with Vancouver. It will also be interesting how Matthews and Toronto shake out.

The human connections certainly matter in this league.
To get the most out of Bunting, with his style of play, he needs to be in the top 6. He's really not a fit on a checking line.I would do Bunting-Staal-Fast on 3rd line and Martinook-Drury-TT on 4th. Yeah I'm thinking the Jordo line should be the same as the playoffs with Martinook and Fast. 3 very good role players at the kind of position and use the other 3 lines to load up.To get the most out of Bunting, with his style of play, he needs to be in the top 6. Sorry all, I’m just catching up. How valid is this? Is Vlad a legit shot for us?
Shay is one of the main NY market hockey reporters for The Athletic and broke so many signings and trades in the past that it was starting to piss off some of the more traditional reporters. It was either the deadline or FA last year where she was seemingly out ahead on 2 out of every 3 deals.Sorry all, I’m just catching up. How valid is this? Is Vlad a legit shot for us?

I would run svech-aho-tarasenkoYeah I'm thinking the Jordo line should be the same as the playoffs with Martinook and Fast. 3 very good role players at the kind of position and use the other 3 lines to load up.
Tarasenko-Aho-Jarvis
Svech-KK-Necas
Bunting-Drury-Turbo
Martinook-Staal-Fast
At the same time, if we do get Tank, I would turn our attention to a possible pickup of Lindholm, using Skjei, Pesce, Drury, or Turbo as a centerpiece. And if you get him, insert him between Svech and Necas moving KK to the Bunting line with Turbo or Noesen.
Absolute filth in terms of how deep that roster is. And then you look at the defense
Slavin-Burns
Orlov-Pesce
Skjei-Chatfield
And we are still in on Karlsson? Have to imagine he slots into the top line with Slavin if he comes in possibly looking like
Slavin-Karlsson
Orlov-Burns
Skjei/Chat-Chat/Pesce
With Skjei or Pesce likely being dealt. And if TDA really does come in, then you're probably talking about dealing both Skjei and Pesce to fit him in....
And then on top of all that, we still have the 2021-22 Jennings Trophy winners in net at a cheaper rate than last year.
quick add to my last post.I would do Bunting-Staal-Fast on 3rd line and Martinook-Drury-TT on 4th. If they even keep Tuevo. I could see Tuevo, Szjei and perhaps Drury being traded for a top power forward/2-way scoring forward.
Discounting the health insurance…And then on top of all that, we still have the 2021-22 Jennings Trophy winners in net at a cheaper rate than last year.
Re: what Hank said above... there has to be some specific reason why Orlov('s agent) made the initiative in signing with Carolina, already a D powerhouse and as such less likely to pay king's ransom. Tarasenko being Carolina-bound is plausible for such a reason.Sorry all, I’m just catching up. How valid is this? Is Vlad a legit shot for us?
So wait wait wait wait.
Wait.
If Orlov basically walked up to our GM and said "sign me" right at the same time that his best friend and godfather to his son happened to also hit free agency...
...then that means that at some point in the last couple of months, these dudes sat down and said "let's go play for Carolina together." Right?
Holy shit, dude. These is the motherf***in' times.
