My guess is that the new agent team already has someone lined up, and that’s how we got here.

Good luck to that team. I could see it being a bubble team trying to get over that first hump on the way to contention, so maybe Ottawa. But a current contender isn’t going to give Tarasenko that kind of money and term.

Not sure if he had a deal in place but he definitely changed agents in free agency.

He rejected a massive deal because his agent believed he would get a better offer as an UFA, he fired his agent after the other offers never materialized and signed a 1 year 7 million with the ducks, now hes making 4 million with T.O.

Guess it wouldnt be the most shocking revelation if that's exactly what happened with Tank's situation.

Seems to happen every year.

Big difference though was that was Klingberg's shot at a massive deal last summer. Was looking for that one last big security payday.

I don't know what Tarasenko and his agent were really thinking. Players just weren't getting the big bucks this year. Seemed pretty clear. Unless they really thought people weren't paying attention to his injury history and lack of production last year.

That would imply we trade DBC for picks/prospects/cheap players. Hard to imagine anyone taking on DBC without sending decent money back.
