Smart players would denominated their long term contracts in Bitcoin. Maybe one day!
Not many are going to like what ISO20022 compliant crypto currencies are going to do to the crypto markets.

If the firing of the agent thing is true, he had a good agent for telling him don't be stupid.

I guess I get people being wary of his wonky shoulder, but he did look like a star on a bad Blues team before being traded.

He controls how much he gets paid? Well he should sign himself a 100mil contract then. Or maybe he doesn’t control how much he gets paid.
You should go back to school and learn how markets work. You're the type of guy who when asked in a job interview how much you think you should be paid? Answers: "I dunno whatever you guys think I should get paid"

Then after you accept you spend your career complaining how under paid you are.

Yeesh, with his injury history, I don't know why anyone would give him more than a 2 year deal right now. If he's wanting term and cash?

Good luck to whoever ends up with that

His last 2 seasons since getting healthy, he’s got 132 points in 144 games (75 point pace). Taylor Hall has 97 in 142 games (56 point pace. They’re from the same draft year, both have a history of injuries, and Hall just got dealt for positive value at 6 million for 2 years. It’s hard to see a team not being able to justify Tarasenko at 5x2 if they have the capspace imo

Probably wanted agents with connections to doctors who will recommend LTIR for significant portion of the season which will improve his take home salary by expanding salary cap options. I mean that's what I would do if I wanted to maximize salary and team choices. That or just go to Florida.

Are you Tarasenko’s mom? Lol. Sounds like he bailed out of a contract and fired his agent thinking that a new agent is going to make more teams interested in him? New agent going to force NHL to increase cap ceiling? Lol.

If you go over to the Ottawa bored you will read about how Tatar is better than Tarasenko.

Bro why are you mad that Tarasenko a grown man is making what he feels is the best decision for himself?

Just because you are the type of guy who will take whatever is offered to you other people are built different.

A man who controls where he goes and how much he gets paid sounds like a boss, not a diva.
Lol he’s not in control of nearly as much. The teams making the offers control that and the offers aren’t going to change with a new agent.

This is the 2nd time in 2 years he fired his agent over something like this. Tarasenko is a clown who is upset that his value is lower than his ego thinks it is.

Tank was born in late 1991. He was drafted in 2010. Arrived in 12/13 season. Whether he did max term of 8 years or something shorter like 6 years, he was going to have a hard off-season when he hit UFA.

Years 5/6 of his contract, sidelined by shoulder injuries. So, he would not have gotten much had he hit the market earlier than now. Had a great bounce back year in year 7. Only 50 points in 69 games last season. 31 now, turning 32 late in the year. He's not getting a 5 year term. So, not sure what he expects. Better clubs are capped out by now. So, either take less from a good team or do the Klingberg move and get paid by a bad team and hope you get moved at the TDL and perform well.

But, it's not a great position to be in.

True, but I'd imagine that arguably the best winger on the market would get much better offers under normal circumstances. It would be weird to have an offseason where Killorn gets 4 x 6 while guys like Tarasenko have to settle for less or 1/2 year deals. Different players and situations obviously, but it's certainly bad timing for Tarasenko.

Then again, some deals take longer and in the end I bet things will fall into place.

Guys like Tarasenko and Kane probably think they're better than they are and want term, despite their clear decline in play and skating especially.

Even the average fan still think these guys are elite or something lol.

Why is Kane taking a stray bullet because of Tarasenko changing agent here?

Kane is recovering from surgery and has made no indications he plans to sign with anyone term or no term at this point

Most are speculating he will wait early in season when his recovery is nearing end to consider teams

"Sounds like Tarasenko will be signing with the Canes"

In fairness to her, it seems that the statement was accurate at the time. We know of two confirmed bidders, one being Canes and the other being Sens. We know the Sens are stuck with the DeBrincat situation. That left only the Canes on the table, and by all indications the agent was prepared to move forward. That was likely where the leak came from, there was little reason to keep it quiet.

Nobody would have expected Tarasenko to completely upend the process like this.
