This team needed to take a step back this year and get 2 players in the top 15.

Now it appears the Van pick is headed in the 10+ range (well done boys) and the Islander pick (which we traded) is hovering at that 15 spot. We dont have a second in this year either.

"Taj
@taj1944

Canucks are now around 5 points away from dropping out of the top 11 and having a 0% chance at Bedard."

Headed for the "Mushy Middle", the owners and management of the Club still appear to have no concept of how short-term pain can result in long-term gain.

I see how this is all going to go.

The retool will basically work well enough to get us to the playoffs but we won't sniff a cup with this core.

Rebuild/retool has become a moot point, but we needed to ACTUALLY rebuild during those Benning years. Get picks, don't sign or take on albatross contracts (Myers/OEL), stock the prospect pool for a few years to create organizational DEPTH.

Instead we are now locked into working around those terrible contracts, don't have the youth on cheap contracts to counter those terrible contracts, and don't have the type of depth we need in our core as we would if we'd hit on 4-5 more good picks that we instead traded away for band aids.

The short sighted "We're gonna compete!" years of Benning have handcuffed the team for years and forced us to continue to try to compete because he fell bass ackwards into a couple star players.

Bleak as ever!

No point in dreaming of Bedard now.

Maybe when he’s near UFA status and Canucks are starting their third retool.

Nope. Nope. Not doing this again or else it will be Paul Kariya and Joe Sakic all over again. Connor Bedard is probably going to be a lifelong Blackhawk or Coyote and proceed to put up a 2.00 PPG career total verse the Canucks while leading his respective teams to multiple cups.

It is a shame.

They have a perfectly good Tank-Commander Goalie wallowing in the minors with a shiny, Tank-Friendly save percentage of 0.871.

All they had to do was give him the majority of the starts and bob's-your-uncle; they would have a top 3 draft choice guaranteed.

What a waste of a season.

A Wild Card spot and two playoff home dates are Frankie Blueberries' Stanley Cup.

Flags fly forever. Lift that "Meaningful games in March" banner!

Haven't the odds gone from like 7% - 5% ?

Hughes by himself looks like he could beat the likes of Chicago and Anaheim.
