I think if you have too offensive guys on the same pairing they give up way too many goals.

Reilly and Tanev were absolute dynamite at the world championships as the top pairing and didn't allow a goal against the entire tournament while they were on the ice, which is pretty good.

They perfectly compliment each other in my opinion.

Those two would quickly be a premier pairing in the NHL. Too bad it won't happen.

If Tanev were put on the market he would return more the. The original post. There most likely would be a bidding war...
Tanev is better then larsson
Larsson returned hall
Tanev should return >or = Taylor hall

If that type of quality (not quantity) isn't available then there is no point moving Tanev

I don't think the Hall trade necessarily sets the market, but I do think the return should be closer to Hall than the proposal in the OP

Why does Jeremy Bracco keep popping up this deals?....isn't the guy five-foot-nothing and 150 soaking wet?....unless he's the second-coming of Johnny Hockey, he doesn't make sense for a team in the Western Conference.

The deal has to start with Marner, Nylander, or Toronto's 1st + a blue chip prospect. Otherwise it makes no sense for the Canucks.

He is 5'10, 190 pounds. 4th in OHL scoring, averaging 2 PPG.

Kid is a pretty good prospect, though admittedly not a blue chipper

Lol start with? We have to ADD on top of players that are already more valuable than Tanev?

You can get him for free though. To sweeten the deal, we'll throw in Weisbrod, Delorme and the Aquilini's as well

Too bad Harold Ballard isn't still around. We could send him to you guys and it would be a deal!

Nucks fans can stop dreaming about JVR now. He is not getting traded, especially for Tanev. Not even close.

Nucks fans dreaming about JVR? That's cute. The funny thing is, the post you quoted was making a joke about how Benning would trade Tanev for JVR instead of prospects.

Nylander/Marner or Vancouver isn't interested.

Seeing your location is Montreal would you trade Galchenyuk/Sergachev for Tanev?
I like Tanev but that's a big pass.
If the Leafs are trading one of those players it's for a D who is younger, more physical or provides points from the backend. Or a combination of those.

LMFAO! You actually think Tanev gets you within 1000 miles of Marner or Nylander?

Come on man!

There is not a player on the VAN roster that gets you a sniff of JVR. Not one!

Fine, but they won't get Tanev for anything less. So these proposal really should stop, cause it's never happening

Well then if you wouldn't trade Tanev for JVR (and that's fine), you sure aren't getting Marner or Nylander in return. 30 teams, UFA, the draft and expansion, I'm sure the Leafs will address their D as they move forward. The team is still building they aren't in a panic to make moves.

no more of these lol

leafs fans wanna dump jvr
nucks don't want jvr

leafs fans offer bracco/dermott/johnson/nielson/soshnikov type players
nucks say no

nucks want nylander or marner
leafs say no

the only asset it seems nucks fans would accept from the leafs, that some leafs fans are ok with giving up is our 2017 1st round pick

honestly, i would want tanev but idk what it would take

nylander/marner/matthews/rielly are obviously not going anywhere

Excellent post.

I don't think any of those other 30 teams will give you there best D for crap as well

Big 3 or no trade

Guys like Kapanen, Bracco and Dermott can get you Gudbranson though

That's fair, I wouldn't want to trade any of the big 3 for Tanev, but I totally understand why Canuck fans would want them. Would the Canucks even realistically be looking to trade Tanev if they blow it up? I feel like he'd be a good guy to keep around for a rebuild.

I understand as well why the fans would ask for the moon for their best D.
Any fan would. Tanev would help any team. It's like what fans of Kessel/Nash expected to get.
First we don't even know if he's available and it's hard to say what direction the Canucks are going in.
If they are still trying to make the playoffs and add pieces wherever they draft, then they probably keep him. If they strip bare bones then he could be moved.
