Contract aside, Marner was a beast this series. Did everything. Everytime he was in Hedman's kitchen, you could see Hedman's frustration. I don't know what more you could ask from him.

If you want to bitch about overpaid for anything, you point no further than Tavares. $11M AAV for what he brings is laughable. Him at $8.5M would be slightly overpaid but at least arguable.
I didn't criticize Marner at all.

Yes, you're right -- I forgot about the Tavares contract. Those two are tough to work around.

Maybe that’s partly why Florida can have two teams? Lots of Canadians down there supporting those clubs. Booing another anthem is classless.
Or you know, the strength of the american dollar, or the fact their population in the state of Florida is like half of Canada's, and their tv markets are very lucrative...but let's not get facts in the way of a narrative.

Nothing to worry folks
Bring back the same team

Bieksa's explanation was spot on. Big offenses can be shut down if you commit to it. The 3rd period was a clinic by TB in how to take 0 risk and just defend your net.

Honestly, I think what the Leafs need most is a slight shift in mindset. You have to be willing to give the puck up sometimes if it puts you in a better position to defend. That's what changed everything for TB.

No narrative. Nothing against Florida. Just not too sure how many fans (not the Canadians down there) are Floridians. Where would hockey rank for sports interest among the Florida people? Football on all levels would be King. Then Basketball and Baseball?
So, will the idiots booing the US anthem up in Toronto really get much notice down in Florida?

Well played Leafs keep your heads up that was a hard fought series, and this is coming from a Leafs hater.

The team including Matthews and Marner showed way more grit and resolve than in previous outings. That was unequivocally NOT a choke job.

You lost to the defending back to back cup champs, took them to 7 and lost in a close match. Vasi was a literal wall.

I think some roster moves need to happen in the offseason but hardly blow it up. I expect the Leafs will have another season next year.
You're lying, no true leafs hater says "well played keep your heads up" and "this was not a choke job". This fanbase deserves all of the game 7 meltdowns they get, and more. Been a great streak since 2013.

"Leafs will have another season next year".. They've been saying that for decades, it's never going to happen.

one take away from that is that they are improving every year.....lose by 4 then 3 then 2 and finally 1 now...i hate to say it but there are some hard decisions in TO this offseason, even if you dont do anything that is a hard decision.....i feel like you have to 1st ask, did we just get unlucky facing tampa in the 1st round?(which if tampa makes another run, then you say yes but if they lose the next series.....well).....then the question becomes what do all these teams/losses have in common?....i dont think you move marner, matthews, or nylander but i dont think anyone is taking tavares of the leafs hands....tough summer for sure.

i do hope one thing changes for sure, and they get rid of that lame goal song, one of the dumbest ever

Tampa has become a hockey town. You should have seen the last 2 boat parades.

Football is probably still first. But I'd say that the NHL ranks right after the NFL.

Even tho it's my Christmas today, Leafs are a good team, and management doesn't deserves the boot lol
They just got a 115 pts season

They need depth, but they still a top tier team, who had the misfortune to run into the defending champion
