Wes McCauley HATES us...there was zero ref bias.

Please get some new material. That pick play was an easy call.

Vasy finally showed up. Again, great series. You guys are close.

Toronto had a very good series, and their stars actually showed up for the most part. Even this evening, their stars were responsible for Toronto's only goal.

However, the salaries that are being paid to all of those stars prevents any kind of depth.

Look at the score sheets from Game 4 through Game 7.

Toronto got NOTHING from anyone other than their Big 4 forwards and Rielly.

All of their "slightly above the league minimum" forwards did NOTHING for 4 consecutive games.

This is what happens when you pay 4 forwards $40 million dollars, and fill the other 8 forward slots with a bunch of $1.0 million dollar players.

The 8 forwards making around $1.0 million dollars gave Toronto what Toronto paid for them. Nothing.

Good point. How much money does Nick Paul make?

Leafs just took the back to back Stanley Cup champions to a game 7, losing by only 1 goal in a game that was legitimately a coin toss. Anyone who’s disappointed in the Leafs performance is a moron lmao, there’s no team in the league except for the Avs who are by far the favourite to win the Stanley Cup that I would favour in a best of 7 versus Tampa. You guys need to seriously lower your expectations, these guys have gone back to back for a reason.

But what about the previous paragraphs of the same post, including this gem:

"These 2 teams were 3rd and 4th in the east this year. They shouldn't have played each other."
That's not an excuse.
That is just a fact.
They were indeed 3rd and 4th in the East.

"Why are your shoes wet?"
"It's raining"
"Don't give me excuses!!!"

Come on.

On one had I don't think the leafs choked, and they looked much more prepared than in previous years. On other hand, vasy wasent nearly as good as he has been last 2 years and Kuch was a ghost. I don't think the bolts looked as good as they've been last two years.

The full quote isn't there, he basically said something along the lines of we got respect but we aren't in the business of getting respect, we need to win.
The full quote is still a bad quote. If they're in the business of getting wins, then why is he in here talking about all the praise they got from the winners in the first place? Shouldn't even be brought up.

I loved the way Paul played the whole series and it was the perfect ending for him to score both goals in the win.

Vasilevskiy did a heck of a job too. Maybe not his best series ever but he pulled himself out of a regular season funk and went into playoff mode and battled his way to a series win.
I love Nick Paul's game. Huge pickup before the trade deadline.

This was probably Vasilevskiy's best game of the season. He's amazing in elimination games.

Everyone is saying this was not a choke job but it is when you had two chances to close out the series and lose game 7 on home ice.

The time for moral victories for this team has passed. It's SC or bust now for this team.

Trying to show that the team showed up? I'm not a fan of the quote, but he isn't trying to say "we had a small victory here and that's what counts"

nevermind they could've won it in game 6 too...leafs didn't force game 7, they got forced into game 7. taking the "back to back champs" to game 7 is only impressive if they forced it. leafs should have won this series and blew it. that's worth being disappointed in.

Tampa really didn't look like the Tampa of the past 2 years all series in all honesty. In fact, they played some flat out awful games like Game 1.

Tonight was the first time I watched and thought "ah, there's the back to back champs".

How much more of this can Matthews take before he asks for a trade

Matthews was on the ice. He could have tied it.

When you’re the highest paid player in the team, there is no one coming to help. The cap prevents it. If you need help, you aren’t the player who should be making that much in the cap, because there is no help coming. If you needed help, you needed to take less on your contract.

Dubas can’t go out and find these guys anyone to help them, they have to do it.

I know that. My point is bringing up small victories with the expectations on this team is a terrible look. Don't even bring them up. Even if your point is to say "all we care about is wins". Just say that. Don't even talk about how friendly Tampa was to you guys in the handshake line. Nobody wants to hear it.

This is what Cooper said before the game. This is what actually being in the business of winning looks like:

Not only do I think my team would have beaten the Leafs, I'm sure Florida would have absolutely spanked them in 5.
Panthers fan here. Absolutely not.

The 3 games we played against them in the regular season, they won decisively and we won the other 2 in overtime. One of which we had to comeback scoring 5 goals straight.

Toronto is a difficult opponent, would have probably been a 6 or 7 game series, a few panthers fans were dreading the matchup.

It's not the same team. Lost an entire line and its very unlikely win again this year. Panthers/Canes/Av's are all superior teams. Toronto was gone in the first round regardless. The problem is the Leafs big 4 did perform but their defense blows and Campbell isn't good enough. He did have a decent series but lets in some costly goals
