Agreed. All jokes aside, I think the leafs can get over the hurdle but more depth would help. Thought Tavares would eat us alive this round but he did nothing really. You fans probably don't want to hear it now but the Leafs gave us a really tough series, right up there with the Isles last year. I really think you would've beaten anyone else if not for the stupid format. So don't let the haters get to you too bad. I went into the series knowing it wouldn't be easy but it really was on a whole other level. I was starting to doubt and figuring experience in winning is just a convenient platitude but I think Game 7 really proved it true. We just simplified our game and avoided the big mistakes and counted on Vasi to bring it home.
Not only do I think my team would have beaten the Leafs, I'm sure Florida would have absolutely spanked them in 5.
Cool. Not only do I think my team would have beaten the Leafs, I'm sure Florida would have absolutely spanked them in 5.
Even though we had our differences in the other thread, I have to agree with you hereNot only do I think my team would have beaten the Leafs, I'm sure Florida would have absolutely spanked them in 5.
Humor me and explain how the Leafs beat the Panthers in a 7 game series. Run thru the matchups etc.Cool.
I strongly disagree.
Pretty much this. They choked hard last year. This year, the series could have gone either way against a really good team.Last year was the Leafs best chance in their current era to get past first round and make a run and they choked hard. Now things are just gonna get harder with core players closer to UFA, supporting players hit UFA etc.
How low the bar is: they didn't choke, therefore the first round exit is acceptable.
The point is, none of their overpaid core stepped up and left it all on the ice. Campbell was solid but not good enough.
He had a very solid penalty kill in the third, made 3-4 great saves. I don't think he was tested all that much after with all the blocked shots from the DDid vasilevski go beast mode like I predicted?
I'm all for banter mid-series, but here is few of my actual thoughts of the series:
This Toronto was good. Like really good. This was an Islanders level threat where I was actually not sure we will win in the end.
I don't think you can or should find a clear scapegoat here for the Leafs, there top line produced, Campbell didn't lost them the series, Tavares came alive. It was hard-fought hockey where we came out on top in the end by inches.
As for what to do in Toronto, I think this tweet perfectly sums it up.
P.S. : All those guys who cried dive and acting on Point injury, go f*** yourselves. Peace
Should have been fired for last year; he executed poorly at the deadline. This year, he was fine. Tough luck facing a tampa team that was just better.I honestly think dubas gets fired in the next few days.
