The Leafs did not ''choke'' this year, but I would have liked to see them play with desperation the entire third period. When will they realize that they have to give literally everything in the tank when they get such an opportunity? It's another year scrapped and they have to do it all over again next year. Ah well.
 
Its wishful thinking for Leafs fan to believe Tampa was the best team in the East and if they didn't play them they would have moved on. This Tampa team is not even close to the last two years. I don't think some people will realize how weak Tampa is until they get absolutely destroyed by Florida.

Toronto has an organizational problem, not a roster problem. Brian Burke tried addressing this but didn't quite have enough time to complete the overhaul.

Agreed. All jokes aside, I think the leafs can get over the hurdle but more depth would help. Thought Tavares would eat us alive this round but he did nothing really.

Matthews and Marner are incredible. If any fan says they don't worry seeing them heading to your zone is fooling themselves. Incredible chemistry and talent. Can't stand either one but credit to them, very good pieces to build around.
 
just realized the official game report doesnt have the three stars

pretty classless of Toronto media not to do this for the game

Hats off to the Champs, we had them on the ropes and they won a couple tight games.

Leafs fans will overreact and want to fire Dubas but he deserves another year in my opinion.

Nylander is an incredibly SOFT player

If he was on my team it would infuriate me to see him consistently stop skating on the forecheck when the puck goes into the corner because he doesnt want to be hit

he has 2 or 3 steps on defenders, and says "you take it" if the dump in goes beneath the goal line

Im not sure if that is player you can win with

Matthews and Marner on the other hand showed another gear this playoffs and are impressive players that you can win with.

Last year was the Leafs best chance in their current era to get past first round and make a run and they choked hard. Now things are just gonna get harder with core players closer to UFA, supporting players hit UFA etc.

Pretty much this. They choked hard last year. This year, the series could have gone either way against a really good team.

There are too many other good teams in the league to blow chances like they did last year.

Harsh words but this is a true post. Another 1st round exit is unacceptable at this point regardless who the opponent is.

All the trolling directed at Leafs fans feels forced this time. They didn’t choke — they’re a very good team that went up against a possible dynasty.

This Toronto was good. Like really good. This was an Islanders level threat where I was actually not sure we will win in the end.

I don't think you can or should find a clear scapegoat here for the Leafs, there top line produced, Campbell didn't lost them the series, Tavares came alive. It was hard-fought hockey where we came out on top in the end by inches.

As for what to do in Toronto, I think this tweet perfectly sums it up.

Have you and this guy been in a coma for the past 4 years? We have been running it back. Tampa got embarrassed and then won. The leafs got embarrassed and then got embarrassed again, and then again and this year they didn’t get embarrassed, but they still didn’t do anything. They didn’t win.

Tampa WON. The Leafs were embarrassed by the Bruins, embarrassed by Columbus and REALLY embarrassed by the habs. Those were ‘run it back’ years.

Dubas never should have run it back this year, that’s clear now. There is no way you run it back for a 5th year
