Yeah I am sure someone can link the stuff, but Emma Lingan seems to think Stamkos doesn't think some guys are putting in the work. He was close to naming some names but did not.
I would love to hear who he thinks is the issue. Couldnt be that his line (Stamkos, Sissons, Marchessault) has the lowest P/60 of all forwards not named Tomasino (waived) and Svechkov. Wouldnt want the expensive players putting in anything 5v5. Probably guys like Fabbro and Tomasino. Wonder if he has been whispering in Trotz' ear some

Tampa had the cap space to keep their franchise legend and chose not to. That should have set off massive alarm bells.
What is a ? is that if they had done any game film watching or deeper stat analysis, they would have understood he was largely a mediocre 5v5 guy that was reliant on PP production (playing with Kucherov, Hedman, and Point!).

So either they realized that and STILL thought he was worth $8M a year. Or they relied solely on basic counting stats and were oblivious. Or else ownership had a hand in it. All 3 of those possibilities are really depressing.

All i know from basic stats and watching games:
Sissons on 2nd line doesnt work. The line bleeds chances and often gets scored on. Add in Stamkos, Marchessault, and Sissons not having any 5v5 production and it creates a large deficit.

The first line and Josi also have terrible even strength goal differentials (except forsberg because he does things). Josi tries too hard to push the offense and RoR/Nyquist arent replicating last season.

The 4th line got pummled at the start of the year and since they dont typically score goals it has alot of ground to make up. It has gotten alot better with L'Heureux.

Funny thing is that most of the players with decent goal differentials are all players that either get their time limited or get traded/waived away.
Defense: fabbro, del gaizo, other callups. Only exception here is lauzon
Forwards: Parssinen, L'Heureux, novak, tomasino, Jankowski, Svechkov, Evangalista

Almost exclusively younger players. I cant determine cause but why not put some of them into positions greater responsibility and see how that works out. Why punish them if they make a mistake and give seemingly free reign to the worst actors.

Because Brunette is a bad coach for this team.

A bit late to the party but man that Stamkos quote is some weak sauce. Sorry he doesn’t have Kucherov and Point propping him up anymore. Stamkos over his whole career is obviously a great but it’s pretty clear to me his success recently was being heavily driven by having two other great players feeding him the puck. We don’t have that here and if he didn’t want to deal with that maybe he should have taken the cheaper offer and stayed in Tampa.

Thing is he doesn't do anything to be in position to make something happen even if Sissons got him the puck. He goes into the corner, someone throws a shoulder into him and the puck goes the other way. I mean if you just watch the games Stamkos is the guy that looks like he isn't putting in a good effort. I mean if he is, that's a little scary that he has degraded that badly.

Yes Sissons has no business being his center, but that is a conversation you need to be having with the coach. You can't tell me he hasn't figured out that Sissons as his center isn't going to work, and Marchessault on his opposite wing isn't going to work either.

I mean personally I don't have an issue with players calling out other players, but you need to make sure you are getting the job done yourself and he isn't.
