How is Marrakesh? I still have nightmares from my trip to Egypt being hassled nonstop to buy this, buy that, enter my store, having them grab my arm and lead me in. I feel like Morrocco is as bad if not worse in this respect and the main reason why I haven't visited it, despite strong consideration.Tage sighting in MarrakeshView attachment 571140

Morocco is great for nature, hiking and surfing. Marrakesh has its charm but I mostly go there at the end of the trip, first stop after the airport is always a car or bike rental. How is Marrakesh? This was a really interesting debate with Rivet on the side of signing Thompson to a long extension this summer and Peters wanting to see Thompson do it again before signing him to an 8 year deal for $8M+ AAV.
I don't see the upside for the Sabres to sign Thompson this summer unless they get a lower AAV for taking the risk that last year was an outlier and Thompson is more of a 25g/50pt guy over the long haul.
It's a girls trip only. They're disappointed that there's so few items on the shelves in that region. Are you there now? If it's a long stay I really recommend getting a car and to travel the atlas mounrains, gorges dades is absurd.
If you're into surfing you can take a loooong drive down to Sidi Ifni, it has amazing beaches (legzira is insane) but you'd need to be there for at least 3-4 days. Even further down in the desert you find Guelmim, market days at night are something special with the lively streets and bats in the sky.
Marrakesh is nice in itself but I always get really tired sfter two or three days. The desert and mountains are soothing.
It's also way less religious down south.
Edit: Feel free to ask if you want some info. I mostly traveled the mountains (and all roads in western sahara). Spontaneous advice is don't go north since that's were all the hustlers are.
Also, go to a barber and get a real shave for like... 2 dollars. 90% of the time it's great, the other 10% makes it more exciting.
Yeah, the whole rant about why do guys that are just drafted sign their ELC showed that neither one knew the changes to the CBA and why getting signed makes sense.I agree with Peters, they should see how he does now that other teams know what he can do. If he plays just as great and it costs them 500k more per year then great, they have their 1C locked up. If however his numbers regress like many people expect, then he signs a much more team friendly deal.
I listened to the whole podcast yesterday and have to say, while I agreed with Peters on Thompson, I question how much he knows or understands contracts in general.
Yea that whole thing just baffled me. I wanted to smack him, like does he not understand that if they wait 2 years to sign they are still signing a 3 year ELC and the only difference is they have to wait 2 years to get their bonus money.Yeah, the whole rant about why do guys that are just drafted sign their ELC showed that neither one knew the changes to the CBA and why getting signed makes sense.
Peters was forgetting that ELCs are way more standardized today due to changes in the CBA to limit what guys on ELCs can make to try and funnel money to vets.Yea that whole thing just baffled me. You can hit female co-ops for carpets, argane oil and beauty products directly from the source in the mountains near Marrakesh. It's a girls trip only. They're disappointed that there's so few items on the shelves in that region.
Skinner is overpaid so They need to get rid of him in the future no 11-12 mil for a player no matter is to much . Sabres is building a team They dont need to add 11-12 mil for one player thats what get you in cap problem not being able to build a great team loosing cozens quinn power Dahlin Peterka Savoie etc…. They need raise. Sabres have the pieces Adams is the best gm sabres have he has a clear plan I can see the pieces er starting to get That we havent had before . This plan is about patient he Will not just go out add 12 mil player trading away the patient that got him drafting 3 first picks with A+ draft from Adams. These players will end up filling a whole line in the top 9 . Quinn cozens Peterka another top 9 adding Krebs Tuch Thompson and the others plus rosen another first next year we dont need 12 mil players . The future looks Bright. Also happy we play a Young team with speed. Also you dont give Tage 8 mil for one year . You give him what he showed during his whole xontract . Cant just give everyone 8 mil .Anyone catch that reddit thread? A significant amount of people wouldn't trade Tage for Tkachuk straight up. I get there is more value in center, but isn't there more value in a proven scorer capable of topping 100 points?
Robert Thomas at 8m aav with one year of high quality play
Joshua Norris at 8m with one year of high quality play.
Wouldn't you rather pay Tkhachuk 11m or 12m (if he would sign here) than risk Tage regression and be on the hook for an 8m aav?
I'd assume, we'd still have to add for the trade.
And I assume 1 C would be a top priority that may include us trading more youngsters and or picks. And then we might have to trade a 1st to move Skinner's contract after a couple of seasons.
This is the only part that makes me hesitate. The chain reaction of adding a wing instead of a center, unless we think Cozens can be a 1C after this season.
I don't want a $10M+ winger with Skinner under contract for five more years at $9M and the Sabres having top 6 winger prospects coming out of their ears.Anyone catch that reddit thread? I am guessing that Thompson would bet on himself rather than take that deal this summer.8 years 6 mil for Tage and he should be happy about that
I’d like to see him for another season before committing as well.I agree with Peters, they should see how he does now that other teams know what he can do. I think maybe his rationale was a little too focused, and ignored some other variables but that could be an hour long conversation in itself and may have just been over simplified.I’d like to see him for another season before committing as well.
But not because of Peter’s rationale. What does he think is going to change? Teams were already putting their top matchup guys on him from almost the start of the season. Its not like its going to get much tougher on that front. It might even get easier if another offensive line emerges
I’m more interested to see how Tage handles the level of expectations he’s going to have because of what he did last season. That comes with a pressure he hasn’t had to deal with before.
Why would the player sign that contract tho? If he bets on himself another 40 goal or close season easily gets him 8-9 per8 years 6 mil for Tage and he should be happy about that
Lets say he has 25 goals next season why should sabres pay him more then 4 mil ? You cant give players 9 mil like Skinner because the score one season . You need to look how good there really are . Everyone cant demand big contract because They had a good year . Yes if he does 3-4 season 40 goals he is 8-9 mil . This day he is a 5-6 mil playerWhy would the player sign that contract tho? Can Tage maintain a high shooting percentage again? While he did draw a lot of tough match-ups there is now a lot more tape on him, will teams be better prepared for him next season, and if they are can Tage adjust for that? Can he improve other areas of his game? If Skinner or Tuch have less productive years how will that affect Tage's numbers? lot's of questions that hopefully get answered this coming season.
Really important point about volume. He's more relentless in putting it on net than others on the team and more difficult to stop from doing so than some others because of his physical stature, shooting abilities, and where he's occupying the ice, and the pressure he creates by doing so is meaningful.I agree we need to see if he maintain his shooting% and I would add to that his shot volume. Not as worried about specific linemates because I don‘t know who will be with him yet.
I don‘t see teams doing anything different. Stopping him is denying him the puck or denying him space to get a shot off if he has it. From a team pov its trying to get your best defenders out against for the matchup. But they’r not going to go beyond that. Does Peters think they’re going to do a heavily focused strategy of stop Tage at all costs? Like the Amerks playoff opponents did to Quinn. Thats not something thats done during the regular season.
A little glimpse into how much matchups effected Tage last season is demonstrated by how much better he was at home vs the road. It’s harder for Donny to get him away from those matchups on the road

I dont think you understand the current market. Sabres can wait this season out and hope he falls on his face in which case you pay him a short deal with a lower AAV (4-6M) that would likely take him to UFA. Thompson isnt a 5-6M player right now. He just scored 38 goals. A contract extension today starts with a 7. If he scores 40ish again it starts with an 8 or a 9 on a long term deal.Lets say he has 25 goals next season why should sabres pay him more then 4 mil ?
