That is my point.

People are expecting production to remain where it is or improve next season when the odds say that a regression in production is just as likely as an increase.

the bigger picture missing are (1) points, (2) games played, and (3) situational changes

if Skinner- Thompson don’t hit a slump they should have similar production next year. Who scores the goals could vary. Skinner and Thompson coukd be high 29s and their winger is 30+ and who is playing D when they are on has higher goal scoring.

I'm actually glad he has 1 more year remaining on his contract. I don't expect him to replicate what he did this year, but if he can score 25-30 goals and get 55-60 points again next year then I'll feel much more comfortable giving him a long term deal.

I’d offer him 8 years for 6AAV right now.

You don't think he'll be a PPG player next year? He's getting better as the season goes on. Another offseason to grow into his body more. He talked about how hard it used to be to grow into his body and put on muscle. Now that he's doing that, it's game over. Another year in the league and especially more experience in the center sport, I could see him replicating this year, if not surpassing it.

Who has a higher ceiling, Tage or Eichel?

What the actual F? Where did the puck even go? This dude has a cannon.

I believe Tage’s shot warped space and time there, travelled through a wormhole from his stick to the back of the net right under the crossbar. This is the only explanation. You can see the puck hit the crossbar right behind the goalie. If it travelled through the normal space/time continuum, the goalie wouldnt have a head.

Even when Tage was bad, his shot has always been elite. Now that he’s starting to put it all together as a complete hockey player, I don’t see any reason why he won’t replicate his success this year or even surpass it. He still has some kinks to work out and makes some dumb plays occasionally, but far less than he used to. I’m hoping Don continues to bring out the best in him and he turns into one of our cornerstone franchise players.

Research studies that have been suppressed for years suggest that giraffes are capable of teleportation.

I dont expect anyone coming off their first ppg season to repeat when they have been amazingly disappointing their entire career proceeding that season

Young players with previously mismanaged talent regularly get better from year to year.
and young hockey players also tend to have peaks, hes got 4 months of great hockey and is still under contract so unless he wants to sign for cheap term im fine waiting a season

and no they dont regularly become a ppg player and continue to get better, most people arent josh allen, in fact I would say that its incredibly rare to go from trash to ppg in an offseason and then continue improving from there
