A lot can happen in a year. I think guhle and asplund made big jumps in ours, this year and last year respectively.

Even before the trade, Blues fans had three or four guys that they were unwilling to give up in a ROR deal and they usually were OK with giving up TT in the deal.

All that matters now is what he does in Buffalo and not if there were 1, 2, or 20 Blues prospects ahead of him prior to the trade.

Blue 1st(20s) from 2016. Came in the OReilly trade.
Looks like a keeper! Look forward to seeing him play live! Will likely get to a few Sabre games this year,I've been to many over the years cause it's closer and affordable and I used to enjoy the after game 'good times' in town. So ,even though I am die -hard Leaf fan, I;m not a Sabre hater at all and look forward to them getting better! Cheers!

Diehard Blues fan here. I was and am very disappointed to lose TT. He is going to have a long and prosperous career IMO. Coach Yeo used him incorrectly last year. When he's on a line with skill, his play in the offensive zone is fun to watch. But, Yeo used him on a checking line. He was trying to get TT to concentrate on his defensive game. I think he should have left him with Steen and Stastny on a scoring line. Misuse of talent. He's not a defensive forward. I don't agree with the scouts that say he's even good defensively. He's a shooter. 3 slap shots in one play last year. I mean bombs. I had high hopes for him.in St. Louis. His dad has been coaching him since conception. He has great vision and offensive awareness. I hope your coach sees his assets, not his deficiencies, and uses them appropriately. I wish him and Buffalo good luck next year.

I need to see Skinner get a comically large stick so he can truly fit in with Eichel and Tage.

Lmao I totally noticed this too.. did a double take tonight after one passed to the other; Skinner looked like he was using a ski pole compared to those guys.

Been impressed with Tage since training camp, I try not to take too much away from watching guys practice for a couple hours, but he seemed to score every time I looked his way. Certainly appears to have carried that over to the pre-season, with the waiver situation it will be interesting to see if he’s done enough to make the team

And that means what now? Nothing. There is this thing called progression

You were the one talking about where he would rank amongst the Blues prospects.

I was just pointing out that your opinion didn't align with the opinion of Blues fans.

If you want to argue, go argue with the Blues fans who didn't rank Thompson as highly as you do.

It would make me feel so much better about the ROR trade if TT becomes a steal. Really routing for the kid.
All reports indicate that Thompson has had a monster camp and Robert Thomas has had a pretty quiet one. :)

*edit* Although RT did have three points last night, so maybe he’s warming up.

I was going off both the most recent one with Thompson on the Blues and what Blues fans were saying during the period of time when ROR to St Louis was a hot rumor.

Every one of those conversations had Blues fans ranking at least 3 or 4 prospects (Thomas and Kyrou were unanimously talked about as guys they were unwilling to give up in a ROR deal) ahead of Thompson in the list of assets that they were unwilling to give up.

I get the urge to be disappointed that we didn't take away someone more coveted by fans for ROR (HF opinion > all, of course)... but I don't think there's anything wrong with Thompson being better than anyone, including Blues fans, expected. Kid looks great so far and has a lot of room to grow.

The fact is, the Blues had multiple top-end forward prospects. If we get an A- in Tage and RT ends up as an A, I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

I went back and read those as well. You are.correct. I was looking to see if what I see with him was raised by fans who saw a lot more of him than I. It was. He doesn't use thos around him. Pure shooter at the expense of his teammates. Coaching can help that, but it is a tough row to hoe.

I had Thompson as the Blues 3rd best forward prospect after Thomas/Kyrou and ahead of Bokk/Kostin. I think he's going to be a very good player for you guys. He's not just a one trick pony with his shot, I particularly liked his work along the boards and his willingness to attack the middle of the ice. Good luck this season.

Considering how many times offensive plays have died on the stick of one too many passes, I'm A-OK with a pure triggerman. Hopefully the development process gets him to use his teammates a little bit more, but honestly, letting him blast the puck is far from a problem at this stage of the game, especially if his linemates do what Nylander did on the toe-drag goal, which was go hard to the net.

If he can do the Petr Bondra thing and have twice as many goals as assists, but actually play on his defensive end of the ice, I'll be very happy.

Exactly.

Where he ranked amongst the Blues prospects at the time of the trade doesn't matter.

What he does in a Sabres uniform is all that matters.
If it doesn't matter to you then why did you feel the need to oppose my statement about reranking? Shaking my head.

Sometimes posters love to disagree just to disagree.
