Thompson has made me more hopeful for him this Tournament than when we acquired him.

Defiantly one of my more notable players this Prospect Tournament.

He looked about as NHL ready as anyone outside of Dahlin.

I had no idea he's as fast as he is...for a big, big guy he has some wheels and flash. I was really impressed.

This past weekend, the blue-and-gold faithful saw Thompson in action for the first time and his performance in the annual Prospects Challenge in downtown Buffalo left spectators wanting more. While he certainly acquitted himself well against other prospects, did he do enough to convince the organization that is he ready for a full-time role with the big club next season?

The answer remains to be seen, but the hulking forward certainly brings a certain skill set to the table that the Sabres have been lacking.

Agreed, if Thompson only becomes a bottom 6 guy who gets used to dump a salary it will make that trade really look bad.

Hoping he can stick with Eichel and free up Reinhart to help the second line.

Thompson is a solid top 6. he can skate for a big guy. Explodes with the puck, forchecks solidly and has a wicked shot.

I would put him as a top 3 prospect on St. Louis

Blues fans certainly didn't have him there prior to the trade.

If anything he needs to continue to be decisive and pick up the pace a touch.

@Jame was totally right about that shot 2 years ago, what a bomb with the slapper or wrist shot.

Gotta say, I thought the return the Sabres got for ROR looked bad at first, but this kid looks very good. Skinner-Eichel-Thompson line will be interesting to see tonight
