He has been the furthest thing from disappointing. It is almost like you don’t know what you are talking about oh wait you don’t.

Says the guy who thinks playing in the AHL burns a year of the ELC.

A PPG defenseman in the OHL while never playing on NA ice... Literally nothing has been disappointing about his season.

He's an offensive defenseman (as Monten called him) and a top 10 pick in his draft+1 year that is being outscored by other other high (Bouchard) and mid (Smith) 1st round picks in Canadian juniors this year. Even second round picks from last year like Timmins and Hague had much better draft+1 seasons in juniors than Boqvist is having now.

Anyway, enough derailing this thread about how disappointing (or not disappointing) one guy's half-season was. I hope the boys are resting up, time to beat some Finns tomorrow!

Really hope that's backwards and Zetterlund, Bemstrom, and Elvenes are all on the right. Though that still doesnt explain Elvenes on the third line and Olofsson out on left wing. Holmberg is more suited for the LW than Oloffson, IMO.

I already stated that I misspoke on the ELC but also clearly stated he would not have lasted a whole season in the AHL as he was the last player D cut in the preseason. He would have been called up.

It is pretty clear you are just stat watching. Look at the players you mention and then you will notice a large portion come from the PP which with is highly impacted by other players. You mention all players that have played on NA ice for a long period of time yet Boqvist is keeping up with all of them. Boqvist has been a ppg player all season and now we are seeing a up tick in numbers as he has gotten more comfortable on NA ice. Might want to check PPG numbers instead of raw numbers as well as Boqvist is a top 5-6 D. He is also a shot generator. All of this plus the fact that he has not struggled defensively at all. You need to start actually watching these player play instread of just looking at stats. Boqvist is not close to a disappointment.

Timmins? He has not been close to better. Come on.

What would you consider not a disappointment?

Suoer happy to see Huggy get the A. Been a great player for Kitchener over the last year and a half.

LOL three of the best d men out injured & with no real fire power up front and no great goalies id say swedes get 4th place this year.

Next year:

Hallander-Olofsson-Fagemo
Holtz-Gustafsson-Raymond
Berggren-Back-Gunler
Hoglander-Pasic-Eriksson
Holmstrom

Sandin-Boqvist
Ginning-Lundkvist
Broberg-Soderstrom
Johansson

Lindbom

Looks like this team can win after all if they stick to what they know. You need to differentiate winning and developing a bit. We've had ultra skilled teams take silver, those groups are still the best for the future, I'd take the group stage domination and 12 silver medals for development any day. It has certainly showed at the men's level, who wins silver or gold doesn't mean squat. Our most successful groups have been those who didn't win.

But then you've got those years when Max Friberg is your offensive star, two or three really advanced defenders, a clutch goaltending performance and you somehow manage to win. I don't prefer that overall, development is still more important than winning in juniors for me, but it's certainly possible.

Lindbom as the starting G and Ersson isn’t even on the roster?

I don’t know why but I have a strong feeling that you are a Rangers fan with a little bias here.

After watching the game I thought the Swedes were light on F quality to what we usually see. Is that what the people see who watch them regularly?

It's a down year for forwards, yeah. Next year with Gunler, Holtz, Raymond, Eriksson, etc. will be much better.

Ersson is 19. He's not eligible next year.
