Sam screwed up when he agreed with using Andy as the backup plan. We'll see what the longterm implications of that are. He also was weirdly way too concerned with Rachel's fate at tribal. Does he not realize that she doesn't feel the same concern for his safety?

I think Sierra is playing a better game than Sam.

I think I would add Sue to the top of those ratings, but that may be more an indication that I'm fully unimpressed with everyone else left in the game.

Gabe is Rome lite. His arrogance is going to spell the end of him. Lying to someone and saying you are willing to go to rocks is a really dumb ignorant arrogant move.

Andy is sloppy, but he seems to think the game better than most of them in terms of long term strategy and how votes will line up.
I think Genevieve is probably getting the strongest edit and seems to be well connected. They are highlighting that she is constantly picking up people at the bottom (Rome, Sol, and now Andy). They've highlighted she can take over a vote when she wanted to (the Kishan vote) and no one seems to be actually targeting her while she's also seems well liked.

I wouldn't rule out Teeny yet. She seems to have a very strong social game but hasn't had much direct influence on the game.

Good episode. I liked the twist. Sol has no chance to win, but he played that perfectly.

My power rankings of those left that can win.

1. Genevieve-Playing a great game. If she can stay enough under the radar, one of the better female players in a long time.

2. Sam-I worry he gets a little too cocky (young 20’s male), but playing a good game.

3. Sierra-I think she’s in a good place, but I’ve felt the last few episodes she’s losing autonomy.

4. Rachel-She’s doing a solid job. Good social player and perceptive. Gonna be a big coup to say she escaped that disastrous draw.

5. Gabe-First week I’m thinking he’s a winning candidate. I thought he was going home, but his connections kept him over Tiyana when he’s the more dangerous player.

6. Andy-First week I’m thinking he’s a winning candidate. He’s probably too clumsy overall to win, but he’s playing the game and has moments where he knows what he’s doing.
I think Sol is playing a game that will be extremely tough to beat if he makes the final 3. He's made a ton of things happen and largely played with integrity.

Only if no one played a good game. I could see him as like a Gabler type of winner, but that type of game doesn’t win without two weak candidates sitting in the final two.

Gotta think one of Rachel, Genevieve or Caroline are winning. Both Genevieve and Caroline kept going on about how big of a threat they think Rachel is, and clearly they were right in wanting to get her out this time around considering she had an idol no one knows about.

it was interesting that Rachel played her shot in the dark, but kept her idol in her pocket. Why do you think she did that? Was she only kind of worried she would be voted out? It was a weird move, but I'm open to there being a good explanation that I'm not thinking of.

Like I said last week, Sam was going to pay for his comment about being ok with Andy being the back up plan. Him and Sierra played a bad game last night. Forming an alliance where it's 4 from one team and 3 from another is never going to sit well with the team of 3. S and S were way too confident in that alliance merge.

Genovieve's gameplay took a hit last night. She talked a big game about getting out Rachel, but was unable to convince anyone to go along with it.

Andy not being able to find a single bamboo tube was about the most predictable thing I've seen on this show all season. He is 100% incompetent in all competitions, even one as easy as that. That said I knew he would do good in the immunity challenge because he's one of those guys who is a terrible athlete but compensates by going to the gym and doing arm weights to make it look like he is an athlete. KNew he had a great arm strength to body weight ratio.

I was wondering about that too with her shot in the dark, shot in the darks barely work as it is and then the numbers for this one were even higher. I was sorta wondering if she did it because it would make her seem like not as good of a player in the eyes of the others and less of a threat now but until she says she did it for that reason I think it's like you said and was half a panic move.

my first guess about Rachel is that she knew she wasn't in trouble, but wanted to put on the image that she was hopeless and needed a lifeline. She has an idol which gives her a lot of secret power, but she wants to give off the look that she has no power.

My thoughts on the auction: it really wasn't an "auction" at all. It was just the person with the most money throwing their cash stack at the next reward. It wasn't an auction at all. Might as well be a lottery. Also there's barely any bad 'rewards' so the auction was boring.

I think the shot in the dark play was pretty straight forward. She knew she was a target and suppose to go last week, so shes likely to expect something similar could happen at the next tribal. She has a SITD and an idol. Why use your idol before your SITD? They are essentially the same thing, one is just a way worse version and only has a 1/6 chance of working. She knew there was a big majority that could split the votes so her single vote is likely not going to do anything this tribal.

So she decided I might as well see if my SITD hits or not instead of just using the idol right away. Now, the sneaky thing that playing the SITD first does, is that it allows you to read everyone else there and to see their reactions to you using the SITD, and to what it ends up being. If she brings her scroll up, everyone has their poker face on, but then it shows not safe and all of a sudden you see a single person or multiple give off a sigh of relief, well then you could try and read it that they are voting for you tonight and you should play your idol. If no seemed to care that you played your SITD, then you probably know theres a decent chance theyre voting someone else tonight.

I thought it was a really smart way of using the SITD to get some guaranteed information because in the end, the SITD has a low probability of being useful anyways. Just my 2 cents.

you're 100% correct. I forgot about the part where he was reading the results and Rachel was staring at the other contestants to get a reaction. She must've liked what she saw so she decided to keep the idol in her pocket. Forgot all about that when I wrote my post earlier lol.

I laughed at how pathetic Survivor has become when the red tribe said they hadn't used the fishing gear they had won until a week after the fact. Baby, come back. I miss you, old survivor.
I don't remember that, but so true. I think at the auction they gave out 15 meals with only 11 contestants. First time I've ever seen people leave food on the plate lol.

Did she know there was a big majority? If she knew that, why didn't she vote for Sam or Sierra (or did she and I didn't see it)? It came off like Sam, Sierra, and Rachel were all blindsided that there was a big majority against them. I forget who Sierra voted for (Sam had no vote, but theoretically he'd have been voting that way too), but wasn't their plan to get out Gabe?

But otherwise, I think you probably have it right. She knew she was in some kind of danger going in, which is why she went through with playing something.

There is no way in God's creation Genevieve isn't winning. She is literally narrating this season from top to bottom. Teeny is really getting annoying. Every season has the one who howls "Let's vote all the guys out!" every vote and it might be the one of the most genuinely annoying things Survivor has

Edit: wow come into the thread with everyone saying the same thing. Every time there's a confessional it's her and Caroline and I'm just like "Bro either they are Banhu'ing the shit out of us with these 2 or here's your finalists"

It looks like Andy is going to start to play, I know that it's early, but I predict that he'll win or at least be one of the finalists.
Andy is on my short list of "180 players". Players I hated at first, but then grew to like.

Aubrey, Emily, Rick Devens, and Tony are other notable members of that list for me.

They have the game nerfed so f***ing much with Tribal Council happening basically every night post merge that you can't risk fishing for the space of even one conversation. All they gotta do is say "Yeah f*** that guy" and now flash a scene of some hapless castaway bringing in fish after having their death warrant signed

I don't think the game needs to be 39 days either but shortening it to make the pace faster hasn't always made for better strategy. 46 was like watching lottery balls pop out of the machine until only 3 balls were left

I think they should make the game even longer. 60 days, less food, more emphasis on surviving. They've made the game way too easy for the game theory nerds who spend the entire time laying in the shelter strategizing and couldn't crack open a coconut to save their lives.

Not saying they need to go back to Australia/Africa level of starvation, but there needs to be some balance.

And I completely agree with what you said earlier about how the game is so condensed you can't even afford to spend the morning fishing because there's a good chance the others are sitting around plotting against you.

A 36 day season is probably about right. It would help with the survival element because the game slows down by adding some days. We are never EVER gonna see an Africa/Australia again but by that point living on rice and catching fish is gonna be life saving. But more importantly it'll allow time for relationships and coherent strategy to develop. You can go 3 days between tribals pre merge and then every 2 days. Maybe merge at 12 and double eliminate to 10. That's always good.

39 has too much downtime. Erik the ice cream man notorious for forking over his idol in Fans vs Favorites went stir crazy in Caramoan.

The New Era does have one strength. The 20's in particular suffered from the likes of Rob, Kim, Tony, Coach cutting the game in half twice. Get majority alliance. Pagong smaller alliance. Be most popular person in your little clique. Win. I literally did this right after Season 10 on a primordial message board on Survivor Macedonia and I Russell Hantz'd/Boston Rob'd the shit out of that game til I lost the final 3 challenge and Ami Cusak took Sarah Jones who won. We fed our closest allies Ryan Shoulders and Jenn Lyon to the wolves at final 5 and f*** I felt bad. I played as Coby. HA!

This doesn't happen in New Era and the 3 tribe format has all but stopped the boring "one alliance eats the other" problem that has plagued the show from the moment it started. If they slowed the game down to 39 I think we'd see more great seasons like Phillipines and Cagayan. Both started with 3 tribes and went amazingly. But both had the sense to go to 2 tribes at 14 players though...

Oh yeah. Survivor needs a twist where no other idol but the one in competition keeps you safe for a night. Old school. Bring back the Super Idol and nullifier and the Guatemala idol that can be played before the vote hence saving you from a nullifer that can be played after the vote and nullify Super Idols and regular.

Get you some strategy son

Oh yeah. Abolish final 3's

Revised 36 and 30 day formats with final 2 scenarios. I literally cannot make it faster than this save for a brief break at the merge. If I go any faster it'll a double elimination at day 15 and everything is a day sooner and the game lasts 29 days

Eliminations and dates

1st 3 days
2nd 6 days or 5
3rd 9 days or 7
4th 12 days or 9
5th 15 days or 11
6th 18 days or 13

Day 19 Merge 14 at the soonest

7/8th 21days *double elimination* 16 at the soonest -they have to socialize-
9th 23 days or 18
10th 25 days or 20
11th 27 days or 22
12th 29 days or 24
13th 31 days or 25
14th 33 days *idols expire* or 27
15th 34 days *Final 4* or 28
16th 35 days or 29 *I'm okay with a sudden death fire challenge for the last spot*

Final TC 36 days or 30

Doing this even at 30 days is absolute madness. Nevermind 26. I mean you can do it. The challenges after the merge are all things like balancing balls on sticks. Its not going to physically wear then out. But at the same time, someone going home every other day *is* break neck speed.

I think the game will breathe better like this. We ARE seeing great TV but no one is a mastermind save for a few beautiful shining lights

Bro holy f***. G's edit is literally the reincarnation of Kim Spradlin. If she doesn't win, we watched her get made for little reason

Actually I take it back. Kim had Parvati's baby and we got G

Genevieve turning on Sol because he tried to take out Rome during the pre-merge was certainly a choice. I understand not wanting to go to the end with Sol, but this felt so premature. She's good at pulling off moves, but when it gets down to it, does she have loyal allies that will stick with her to the end? Not sure about that.

These long-ass challenges and journeys are unnecessary and take away from the more interesting parts of the show. I liked the chaotic pre-tribal scramble though.

Highlight of the episode - Sierra looking hot on the jury and staring daggers at everyone.

Winner pick - Rachel. That underdog edit is looking strong. Everybody talks about how big of a threat she is, yet nobody ever votes for her. They did the same thing with Kenzie, Dee and Erika.

That bag rip was BULLLLLSHIT my dudes
I loved it. Andy can literally fvck up opening a gallon of milk. And having Sam with him who is also god awful at challenges gave us the not at all surprising result.

yea I didn't get it. Sol looked like someone who could work with her + she risked alienating Tiny Tim or whatever her name is. Kyle seemed like the obvious and smartest move.

I agree Sam isn't like amazing at challenges but it's like doing math and negatives canceling the other out. Somehow Gata as a unit managed to win a lot of challenges.

Thank you God for sparing us another Lulu
