We need a disciplined, coach with strong systems. Our own zone is a disaster, sometimes I watch it and just can't make out what they are trying to do. Looks like 5 guys playing different systems.

All coaching for me. What systems do we have, I can clearly tell watching us play we have very limited, if any systems. If we do they are bad ones, a lot of times I find myself thinking, Frolik, Ladd, Halischuk all played defensive roles for playoff teams, 2 of them for championship teams, why are they in bad spots in our own end, making bad plays in the neutral zone. Don't get me wrong, all 3 have been great for us, I just watch them in neutral zone and our end, and think no way these guys played like that on there respectful former teams.

I can tell you 1st hand from personal conversations with several players that we DO NOT have a functional system. Fire Noel. Please and thank you.

Coach change at this point will make little to no differance, We don't have the horses
to be a playoff team.

Agreed. IMO the best case scenario for Noel is to last out the season. The only chance to keep us all from starting to discuss draft order by X-Mas is to make a coaching change sooner than later.

My feeling prior to the season was that these first 25 games (16 of those 25 at home) were crucial for Noel's job security. In particular, I felt they had to be above real .500 by this point to make it worth keeping him around.

I highly doubt he gets fired any time soon, but if he lasts the entire season it shows a strange dissonance in Chevy's thinking. He has clearly displayed faith in this roster, yet keeping Noel around suggests he feels coaching is not the problem.

C'mon GMKC, status quo isn't cutting it. It's time to do something.

What a ****ing joke of a game. The Wild are a **** bag of a team IMO and they will come back down to earth. Unfortunately the Jets just suck. Plain and simple. I'm drinking my sorrows away tonight.

They are not a very good team, they are extremely well coached, with good goaltending, which is enough to make an average team a good team. It doesn't hurt the face they have 3 true 1st line players, that are playing like true 1st line players, and a couple of strong true top 2-3 D-men. They don't have a whole wack of talent, skill, depth, but with what they have, coaching and good goaltending they are a solid team. It bugs me, because I look at our team and know that we could be good too. No we are not a top team, but we are not a bottom team with what we have. Which means, coaching does it not??

Yep, a team with enough scoring depth to push Dany Heatley to the 4th line, possibly the best overall defenceman in the game currently and the best young defenceman, and the top goaltending in the league so far. Pure luck.

I usually don't trust innuendo like this, but this essentially lines up with what I've heard from very trustworthy people on HF. Not first-hand, but proven reliable second-hand.

Of course you have to take that with a grain of salt, lord knows our players don't always hold up their end of the bargain. But yeah, the scuttlebutt is that Claude is in over his head, and has been from day one.

Agreed. But would you rather a coaching change now, and get his systems in place, get him and players used to each other. Or do it after a 10th-14th place finish, and start the season with a brand new coach. Makes sense. Atleast at some point to make that coaching change before the olympic break. I would look into trade options. They have to do 1 of the other before X-mas. I would just do coach and hold off on trades until closer to the deadline. But if they love Noel so much, make a trade in the next couple weeks. And then Noel would be next up on the list.

Really? They are in the bottom 1/3 of the league in goals for, they are riding a hot goalie.

Scoring depth???? Are you kidding me? lol.

The Wild are where they are because of Harding, plain and simple. They are a fringe playoff team at best and they will come back down to earth. Heatley is a lazy, selfish player who at this point in his career would not get top line minutes on any team in the NHL.

Well, Enstrom got put in a tough spot there on the shorty. I can't really pin that on him too much, I would say you'd get that same 3-2 going the other way no matter who it was. I agree with Engblom, it was the soft play getting the puck off the wall.

Agreed. Time to pull the trigger on Noel. Chevy may play around the edges with his roster, but I don't see him making any major changes at this point.

Hey, we're also one of the best possession teams in hockey right now. Just can't finish on the chances we get. :/ Not like we're elite, but we're above mediocre and right where we should be in the standings according to the stats people.

edit: agree with some of the sentiments about coaching making a difference. our GM drafted and traded for player that are good, yes, but also fit the system he wanted the coach to employ.

Inexcusable to say the least, your number one line out with 2 of your 3 best forwards and your 2 best D man on the PP, your up a goal with 5 minutes left and you get caught deep up the ice, NO EXCUSES the Jets just friggin SUCK!

That line played lazy for the entire PP before the Wild's tying goal. The Jets had the game under control and should have won in regulation. It's amazing how those three guys could dog it so much on a key PP late in a 2-1 game. Disgraceful.

This team can't start to get consistently better until Noel is gone, I've been saying this for 20 games now. Too bad a change won't be made until a 5-8 game losing skid happens, then it will be too late for this season, not like there is much hope anyway.they must go at least 4-2 over this roadie.

You're on the wrong board, friend.

I knew this post couldn't have been about the Jets. ;)

My gist on it is that we're perhaps an average team. Average forward line-up. Some dynamic pieces on defense, but some weak spots too. Average goaltender.

And actually I don't think Noel is necessarily a bad coach. Maybe he is an average coach.

But in the West, average isn't going to cut it. Winning about half of your games, give or take a few isn't going to be good enough. Perhaps in the East we'd squeak in 7th or 8th. But we need an excellent coach to elevate this team in the standings beyond it's talent level.

Oh Claude, lets hope Pere Noel is in a giving mood this holiday season and gives the Jets a new coach.
