Fair play rule is pretty dumb and shouldn't exist. Teams like PSG and City are good to not rich clubs as they create bid wars with other giants for players making them more expensive which helps the clubs that really produce the talent that makes the sport great. I don't think any of the big European clubs are 100% clean, either. If some rich sheik wants to 'waste' his money in football we should let him do it, imo.
While The Times knows of at least one club that has submitted a witness statement in support of City for next week’s arbitration hearing, sources believe more than half have sided with the Premier League.
"City blame the Premier League for not regulating spending when clubs such as Manchester United were more dominant, arguing they have been prevented from monetising their brand in the way United did. City also say the rules penalise clubs who have “lower-profile sporting histories”.
Not only state-linked, but state-linked that control a very important ressource and can basically use that fact to have the local governments interfere on their behalf.
I also laughed at their claim that it’s fine if related parties pay inflated sponsorships because even if the owners of City change the companies will be happy to keep paying the inflated sponsorships and it wouldn’t put the team at financial risk.
It's such a bonkers line of logic all the way around, that I would seriously question the lawyers that filed this lawsuit. What are the SLAPP laws like in the UK?I also laughed at their claim that it’s fine if related parties pay inflated sponsorships because even if the owners of City change the companies will be happy to keep paying the inflated sponsorships and it wouldn’t put the team at financial risk.

Also, worst case is Liverpool find a new shirt sponsor, which they could easily do at roughly the same price because their contract is at market rate.Multinational banks have ties to terrorist funding. More news at 11
It's a bad look for LFC but at the sametime they are not the FBI/CIA they cannot investigate all their sponsorship for wrongdoing like that. They should do their due diligence and consider changing their kit sponsor if the allegation are validated though.Multinational banks have ties to terrorist funding. More news at 11
Standard Chartered don't own Liverpool.Joe Lewis giving his pilot some insider info for a few hundred grand seems quaint
If they want to dump Standard Chartered they can get another sponsor. ProbablyWasn't there already some controversy about Standard Chartered a few years ago?
