I love cows!! Lucky you!! When we lived in England, there were fields behind us with cows and sheep. When the calves and lambs were born, I was constantly breaking out by hopping the fence and playing with them. This was my favourite calf.

Cows are cool. We had cows when I was a girl. Gentle, curious creatures but not the sharpest tools in the shed! 🐄

I worked on a dairy farm for years...for some reason, the cows that were almost totally white were the stupidest ones in the barn...those were the ones that never went to there own spot in the barn (for those who don't know, its not random, each cow has their own stall that they return to after being in the pasture), and when we turned them out, the white ones were the ones who always stayed out in a snow storm and we had to go get them, or in the pouring rain

A friend of mine is from a dairy farming family and it is fascinating listening to his stories about his brother's farm. It is so high tech - they have automatic milking and the barn is basically self cleaning. They have big scratching brushes that rotate. The cows are very relaxed and produce more milk because of that. He spent millions setting it up. The cows get treats from the milking machines and have tags so the computer knows if they have been milked - if they cheat and go back into the line, the computer knows and no treat is dispensed. They know if a cow is sick if it doesn't go for treats and isn't getting milked. It really is amazing. I could go on forever but I won't....lol

I was back in the old days....we did have a pipeline, but we had a large metal bucket that we dumped the milk into..we had 4 milking machines , that we had to do each cow one at a time....the milk went into a large metal canister that we carried down the barn to the dumping station, then it got sucked into the tank. We milked about one hundred, twice a day

Things have changed so much now its amazing. With automatic everything, one of the farms I worked on is now milking over 1000 cows 3x a day....they have a full time staff of just milkers

Late today, I’ll be submitting my gofundme information for a new phone thanks to smashing mine for the number of snake pictures in this thread. I expect everyone who posted one will participate.

Snakes are horrible, hideous, death creatures.

snakes ticks mosquitoes squirrels mice and chipmunks.
hate them all.
snakes and ticks are just creepy to me.
chipmunks annoying little pricks. I legit killed over 50 chipmunks this year. They ate over $200 worth of flower seeds from our yard.

On a field trip to the Blue Hills Trailside Museum in 1st grade, I was the "lucky" kid in the class who got to hold a hognose snake. The handler draped the snake over my shoulders and it slithered down into my hands. I've never been afraid of snakes since, at least the non-venomous ones.

I wonder if that place is still open?

Sure is: Blue Hills Trailside Museum
